I ordered a quick bite to eat for lunch and picked up the order. The pickup process was fast and easy. Chick N Rice is in the same place as Ramen Shu. You can buy off of both menus. I ordered chicken katsu with steamed rice, broccoli and chicken soup. Along with the chicken katsu they let you pick 2 sauces. The chicken katsu was good and it was a good size. The steamed rice covered the bottom of the take out container and it was seasoned with what tasted like the chicken soup/broth. For this dish they gave me one piece of broccoli but a big helping of cilantro. The soup was very simple but delicious. It had cilantro and a nice flavor to it. They forgot to give me a spoon and instead gave me chopsticks and 2 forks so I would just suggest to double check before you leave if you are eating on the go and need all the utensils.

Everything here is really good. Sauces, broth, rice, chicken is always fresh.

"Steamed chicken" is served cold. Menu did not indicate it would be cold. Server confirmed chicken was cold after I recieved my plate.

Located in the El Mercado shopping center that houses Marina Grocery, Daiso, Sheng Kee Bakery. First visit I would give this 3.5 stars. Chick-N-Rice has a very simple menu of only 2 items: KMG Chicken Katsu and Rice - fried chicken made with panko bread crumbs - perfectly cooked and traveled well for takeout KMG Chicken and Rice - simple boiled chicken with choice or dark or white meat or a combo. Meat was juicy and flavorful Choice of Dipping sauces: * sweet chili sauce, * lemon ginger and garlic sauce, soy sauce * Popular red sauce - spicy ginger and garlic * Black sauce - spicy soy miso sauce Didn't taste much garlic in any of the sauces as I love garlic but still decent flavors Rice didn't have much flavor and the broth I wasn't a fan of...just a preference but didn't even finish it. Sure I'd give this place another try but for now...3.5 stars and would recommend making a stop Chick-N-Rice is located within Ramen Shu. Parking can be difficult during the weekend as it's next to the busy laundromat so drive a little further for parking

Really liked this place for the chasu pork, but the quality has been inconsistent since the last times we went. The pieces of pork are now cut larger, barely have any color, dry, and more fatty. The crispy parts are still nicely fried, but the meat used to be cooked and incorporated really well. We tried the unagi bento that also included rice, takoyaki, potstickers, pickled veggie, chicken karaage w/ lemon wedge, and half of a soft boiled egg. My bf really enjoyed it. He also got a chasu don but we both didn't think it was the same as before. Gonna be a while before I come back here. Need some time to forget about this last meal before I crave it again lol. Fingers crossed it was just an off day

I was in the area and I came across this hidden gem, the food is great and the service is amazing. Will come back soon with friends.

Love this place, especially the chashu bento. They give you a LOT of food. 2 bentos is more than enough to feed a family of 5 (with middle age kids). We really like how they include those crunchy pork skin/fat bits!

Hainan chicken plate without the flavor of chicken. The fried chicken was too dry. Good portion for the price if you don't mind the quality of food.

The taste of the chicken and rice is ok. I'll go here for a quick fix. For what it's worth, the portion size is small for what they're charging. Rooster and Rice is cheaper and taste way better.

Had their chicken katsu bento and their chashu pork bento. I do not recommend the chicken katsu at all. Chicken had a bit of a funny taste and did not taste anything like chicken katsu. The breading was also falling off the chicken. The chashu pork bento was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. The flavor is delicious and goes well with everything else. I wasnt too big a fan of the takoyaki that came in my bento but really good otherwise. Unfortunately, reason for 3 stars is because my partner got really sick from the chicken katsu bento and ended up throwing it all up :/

For lunch, I ordered 2 organic chicken rice (1 for me and 1 for my boss). For the sauces, I got 2 red sauce, 1 sweet chili sauce and 1 lemon sauce. The price was on the high side but that's expected since the meat was organic. As for taste, it was just okay. The chicken was moist and the soup was flavorful but I'm a dark meat type of gal and we received mostly white meat. As for the sauces, the red sauce was definitely not "red", more of an orange color and it wasn't as good as this other place I've tried. The lemon sauce wasn't bad but I thought the sweet chili sauce didn't compliment the dish at all. If anyone is looking for this restaurant, it shares a space with Ramen Shu.

Chick n Rice is, for now, being run out of Ramen Shu's kitchen (you can order from both in the same menu, for indoor/takeout/etc.) I really like tidy and small menus since in my experience, the food is always really good. Chick N Rice only offers a chicken & rice meal, where the only choices are for chicken (Hainanese style with the traditional soft/gelatinous skin, or chicken katsu), and the sauces. Rice: The rice is simply the best rice dish I've ever had. It's so simple, but so flavorful and clean w/ chicken flavor, perfectly seasoned. Soup: Comforting, simple chicken stock (broth?), which is delicious enough that it deserves to be consumed on its own w/o mix-ins. Chicken: I've tried Hainanese chicken in a couple places, just not really my thing. The one I've had here is simple and nice, so if you're into Hainanese chicken, you might like it. But the katsu is what has me super impressed, and is what I've come back for, several times now. I've had (and made) the basic flour-egg-panko katsu a lot, and usually find it a bit heavy, and often doughy or chewy underneath even the most perfectly crispy panko. But the katsu here doesn't seem to have that thick doughy layer, it's just a thin layer of crispiness surrounding super juicy and flavorful thigh meat. I like this way more than the traditional katsu. It goes really well with the sauces (I like the spicy soy and the ponzu). Overall, I recommend you come try it. (For the kitchen staff: 4 stars b/c the part of the panko crust facing the plate can get soggy from the steam (top is still v crispy.) I guess b/c there's neither air flow nor enough of a starchy buffer layer between chicken and panko, the panko on the bottom ends up absorbing the steam. It will be slightly ugly, but maybe meat side down will preserve the crispiness; or serving the katsu on some kind of cooling rack for the air flow. *Still wanna say that I prefer this light crispy crumb for a sit-down experience, even if it may not travel too well in take-out (haven't done takeout).*)

I already have a favorite, gritty Thai restaurant not too far from here that also specializes in noodles. And while Chick-N-Rice did not surpass it, it beats it in some areas and has several merits that effectively solidified it within my Thai rotation. Many restaurants in Thai Town give you the full Thai experience: affably curt service, questionable sanitation ratings, and AWESOME food for cheap. Perhaps it's symbolic that Chick-N-Rice is West of the 101, because it seems to combine the best of both worlds: service is great, it's clean, and yet the food is still fantastic while prices remain reasonable. Oh, and tables are gloriously wooden. Just thought I'd throw that in somewhere.Without thinking, get the Chick-N-Rice Noodles. It's rightful as their namesake dish. You can choose your meat, noodle type, and level of spiciness to tailor it to your needs, but you inevitably will end up with a comfortingly delicious, peanut-y bowl of soup noodles.*I chose level 4 (out of 10) for spiciness, and it was actually a white-person scale 4, unlike other places that still burn your tongue off when requesting mild (= Thai scale spiciness).

Super good!! My entire fam ordered chicken and rice and it was delicious--not too salty, not too bland, just right!! Love how there was an assortment of sauces to add to it. The chicken soup wasn't too salty either. Would definitely recommend this to my peeps who live in the area to give it a try!

Chicken Rice is pretty good, but the Curry is a bit tad salty. Have to eat more rice with the curry sauce and karaage.
