Playa Azul is a family owned and operated business. They are originally from Michoacan, Mexico. We ordered 12 oysters, half Rockefeller and the other half a la diabla. I ate one Rockefeller but I didn't like the flavor and they had a funny smell, so no one else want to eat them. We also order an agua chile, the presentation was great but it luck a little salt but it was ok not spacey. We also had shrimp wrapped in bacon, served with white rice and beans. It came with a small salad and 3 hand made tortillas. We also try a cold shrimp and octopus cocktail and of course a al pastor torta. It was ok. The menu looks good but for the four of us the food lucks flavor. The service was great. So we were disappointed. However, I encourage you to go try it, you might like it.Parking: Big parking lot but no spaces near the restaurant because it is located in a commercial center.Kid-friendliness: Yes.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes.

Legit seafood and other traditional Mexican dishes, along with friendly owners. Good to know they're open early. Carne asada burrito was top notch, and came very warm. A definite go to place in the neighborhood

I tried the traditional menu items and got enchiladas and chile verde. So delicious! The service was excellent, I believe it was the owners who cooked and served my to-go order. By the way the to go it's packed exceptionally well. They care about their excellent service! The prices are all very respectable. Beyond that the fresh ingredients stand out, and the fresh tortillas-beyond delicious! Myself and my client loved the food. I can't wait to go back and explore the menu more.

I kept seeing this place every time I went to get coffee and couldn’t wait to try, it looks very clean. We were in for a good surprise. Service was on point, four of us got good food, two seafood orders came out fresh, two mole orders were super tasty and the best part was the homemade tortillas. We will definitely be back again especially since it’s so close to home. Nice to see our people expand their business!

Stopped by today with the peeps, all four of us had good food, two plates were seafood and they were fresh and tasty! We also had two different moles and they were both pretty legit. Service was full of attentiveness and follow up. I absolutely loved the handmade tortillas! There are many TV's, pretty good place to catch a game too! The place looked clean too. Stop by the Union city location! Prices are also very reasonable

Went at lunchtime on a weekday. "Just" had 2 tacos (chicken & Steak). Plenty of meat, which is rare these days - I am stuffed. I'll be back :-)Parking: It is shared parking with RiteAid, Safeway, Dollar Tree, etc. but always plenty of available parking.

I went there for the first time today and it will not be the last time. The food is absolutely amazing (I had mole Poblano). I can’t wait to go back on Saturday for enchiladas Michoacánas.

This was the third restaurant we tried for the day in search of food allergy avoidance. All the owners were quite knowledgable about food allergies, said they could cook anything we wanted to avoid allergens. We chose shrimp nachos. They were delicious, with real cheese, great sauce and extremely large, nonbriney shrimp. The owner talked to us while we were eating. The bathrooms were spotless, and, since we also toured the kitchen, it was clean and well-maintained. We will definitely be return customers. The music was fun and the atmosphere was homey. I highly recommend it!

Went in with my family and friends and was immediately warmly welcomed by the servers and owner. We ordered a large platter and guacamole for the table and it was super delicious and I got the enchiladas verdes, I had to ask to see if my mom was in the kitchen cooking with how nostalgic the taste was. I felt like I was back home in Michoacán. The staff was very attentive to anything we needed they felt just like family. Will definitely recommend to everyone!

Found this new gem in Union City ran by Jose and his son Mauricio, who has been running another Mexican restaurant in Oakland since the 80's. They food was terrific and the homemade stone ground tortillas will keep you coming back for more. It's a little hard to find - tucked back in the corner of this shopping area. We'll be back for more soon!
