Took a friend with me for his first visit and he was amazed by the Back Abbey burger and the pom frites (Belgian style fries cooked in duck fat) of course the Belgian beers on tap and on the bottle list are fantastic.Dietary restrictions: I have to avoid, lactose, wheat and soy. So I enjoy the steak salad and some ftites along with my Belgian beers.

We love the Clairemont location, but Upland is closer to home. Plus there's a wetlands trail right behind, so we can take the dogs for a walk, then grab a pint.The ploughman platter is always on point, as are the frites. We were in time from brunch today, so we switched it up. My Full Belgian Breakfast was really good. The brats were very mild, and perfect with the mustard ale sauce. The fried potatoes were so crispy outside, but soft inside, that they were challenging to cut in half.Wife and teen got the BLT. The pork belly is extra crispy, and the pretzel bun really add something extra.Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian and pescatarian options on the menu. The fish and chips and mussels, the cheese platter. Vegan is pretty limited, probably just the pretzel, and maybe the fhun dip (varies). The frites are fried in duck fat (although my child that's allergic to poultry can eat them).Kid-friendliness: There isn't a kids menu, but the appetizers have a good selection, and the frites are ala cart. Relaxed atmosphere.

I actually went to the wrong location of the Back Abbey in Claremont. The people in both locations were very helpful and nice directing me to the right place. We dined there for brunch and had a great time.I had two of their espresso martinis and they were good, they did take awhile to arrive. For food we had their SoCal papas and added chicken schnitzel. I also had their Back abbey burger. The papas were really good and the schnitzel as well. However, the Back Abby burger was quite standard. They have a nice patio in this location and plenty of parking. I overall enjoyed this restaurant.
Found this place on the world's greatest app Yelp. On our way to Arizona, we wanted to have fish and chips since it's Friday so we made pit stop. Let me tell you this was probably the best fish and chips we ever had. Very generous 2 big pieces of fish and very good amount of chips. Fish was super crispy from outside and very moist inside. Fries had perfect amount of salt and crispy yet soft in middle. The batter was delicious and fish was so flaky and moist we couldn't be happier. Service is excellent inside has really cool music playing with chill vibes. They also have really nice outdoor seating as well but we opted to seat inside since it was cold day. Cant wait to come back and try something else. If your around the area stop by you'll thank me later.

IPA haters rejoice! This is Belgium Beer heaven (although they do carry IPA's). Love the beer selection and always try something new. Excellent burgers and fries. We just had the Pink Lady burger that has sautéed pink lady apples and a sauce I forget, but wow, was it good. We love this place, and everyone is so nice.Almost forgot, excellent wine and mixed drinks too, the wife loves it.
