Just discovered this great authentic BBQ (Brisket) and amazing Mac n cheese and super great baked beans! Family owned and run, this place has a real. Culinary chef that became a master of BBQ also. A former Chili cook off contest great, he is lending his advanced culinary skills to J Wolf Catering-BBQ as the owner and operator. Great for catering (duh) and especially good for to go orders or dine-in. Brisket is very hard to find in Ca. Especially when it's done to perfection. J Wolf smokes their brisket for hours over Res Oak, and the tenderness and smoky flavor are world class. I've lived all over the US, including Idaho, TX and North Carolina, sampling BBQ all over- including Tennessee! J Wolf is right up there with the best and most famous and is actually better than the Rendezvous in Memphis. Enjoy the food and atmosphere and I will be back and hope to order for catering a large party for the holidays!

Wow! We just ordered out a dozen pork ribs. They were amazing. Incredible side of coleslaw - spicy and just the right texture. I had a glass of wine inside while waiting - beautiful space. Looking forward to coming back for more food.

It took 45 minutes to get a tri tip sandwich & a very small side of potato salad, it wasn't too busy at all there was 1 order ahead of me. I spent my entire lunch hour sitting around. 2 stars because the sandwich was ok.

Gotta say I found my new favorite bbq spot. I tried the tri tip sandwich, baby back ribs, and pork belly sandwich and it was all delicious, perfectly cooked. Great customer service as well, they make you feel really welcomed once you walk in the door. So folks if you haven't ate here, what are you waiting for.

We're making our way down the menu but I gotta say, the pork belly sandwich was recommended to us as the "underdog" the most underrated sandwich they had there and I have to tell you....it did not disappoint!!!! Absolutely amazing. The cookies are delicious, the brisket is amazing, the tri-tip is on point!!! Everything about this place leaves you wanting for more. They're availability is limited, and that creates a desire to go back even more when they're open! Love this place, will 100# return and recommend to everyone. Best barbecue in town.

This is spot for BBQ in Ventura, possibly the world. Came in for lunch today and had the BBQ Pork-belly sandwich. Whoah! It was absolutely delicious!!! The meat was sauced, seasoned and bbq'd to perfection. A soft roll, packed with pork belly, sauce and whatever else... was absolute heaven. I need to get back to try the other menu items soon because this sandwich was next level awesomeness! Staff was super friendly. Chef came out and offered us a sample of the brisket (which was delicious). From beginning to end J Wolf was an epic lunch experience. Awesome staff, awesome location and epic BBQ. I'll be back!!

Probably the best bbq in the Ventura City. We get their brisket as soon as they open because they can sell out fast. Place orders right when they open, expect an up to 30-40 min delay to build yours on a busy day. They lemonade is also great! Small operation with sometimes weird hours so always call to ensure they are open before driving over - they’ve been closed when visiting. Also narrow operating hours.

Hate to give a small business a 1 star review but when I saw my mail today I saw Tenaya Romero is promoting no on A&B and saw her face printed on the "No on A&B" flyers being mailed out by the big oil companies. I'm voting YES on A&B because Ventura's clean drinking water is at stake and enforcing environmental reviews for all new oil wells won't impact our energy needs or affect over 75% of the current wells in operation. Big Oil is spending over $8 MILLION to encourage people to vote no on A&B and spreading lies that Tenaya seems to have believed. As we've seen in the past they couldn't care less about people (or other businesses) but only care about their profits.
