The tritips are my favorite here and are always cooked right. For the sides, although all are good,I'm stuck on the chili beans.

Marshall emphatically answers the question of "Where is the MEAT?" And, so well cooked. (They had their BBQ grill going in their front yard. Hot on the spot.) This place is one of the most "Down Home" joints I've eaten in many moons. Their best efforts are in the food, which is really appreciated.I stopped for lunch at 1pm, and most of the orders were take-out from the working folks in the area. That tells you most of what you need to know. They know which places are best. The eat-in-area is as it would have been in 1960, but who cares when the food is top drawer? I had the best TriTip with BBQ beans and cole slaw. Superb. If you are looking for the best BBQ in Ventura, I suspect this place is Top-3. I say that only because I have a few places yet to visit. I promise that you will LOVE the food here.

Your food is great but your hours are ridiculous! Perhaps your location being so off the beaten path doygey you the traffic you could. But closing at 6 has stopped me from buying food from you MANY times!

If you are looking for a great place to get some BBQ this is the best around. The tri-tip sandwich with Mac and cheese is a great choice. A great plus is that you can by the BBQ sauce to take home and add to your favorite foods. Thank you Marshall for creating such a amazing eatery, your staff is amazing and the new recipe for the Mac and cheese is amazing. The only recommendation I would give is to make a loaded Mac and cheese, add some tri-tip and BBQ sauce to the Mac and it is to die for. Not to mention the flavor of the chili is great. The chuncks of tri-tip added into the chili is a great way to do it.Kid-friendliness: The resturante is made to look like a old western building which is great for the kids.

I was actually looking for the old bbq place that was near where toy r us used to be and I found this place and holy smokes they are good!!! I wish I knew about this place sooner. My 1/2 rack of baby ribs was perfect and the sauce way too good. I will definitely come here again. The only criticism I have was maybe making the combo a little more clear to me. Plus I hate salads. I had macaroni salad for my side which was also homemade and tasty. I would have included a pic but yeah come here you won’t be dissapointed.

These people spend a lot of time on their quality, every time I come here the tri tip is always tender and flavorful. They said it comes comes from Omaha and they use a secret rub (which they sell). Their burritos have the most tri tip then any other tri tip burrito I've ever seen. They're prices are about average for a burrito if you compare it to Chipotle. You know the food is fresh too because there's always someone in the parking lot cooking on a huge grill. This is hands down better then Wood ranch and the other BBQ places in the area because the other BBQ places have chewy meat or it's not enough. Their sauce is really good stuff too! There's just about every kind of BBQ at this place too so it's not just tri tip.

Excellent barbeque! Everyone had something different and all were very tasty. I had beef ribs and the flavor was excellent. The sides were good, especially the Mac and cheese.

Great place. Get the Tri-Tip sandwhich combo. And pour on a bit of their BBQ sauce. Both are good. My only gripe is the sides - the potato salad and coleslaw are not great. The chili beans are my go to. Or they will let you substitute a bag of chips for the regular sides... I sometimes get the chips.

Been coming to marshals since I was 10, one of those Ventura staples. Ordered lunch at about 1145 Thursday, tri tip was a step past Well done Why ask if it's gonna come out inedible. Chicken was bomb! and rib was good Bbq sauce here is awesome as well.
