I had a great experience, stopping by around lunch time. The young lady who took my order was attentive, offered great recommendations and had an awesome vibe and attitude. I ordered the Sweet Heart rolls and found them delicious and filling. I ordered a Benito box to go. Parking may be difficult if there are a lot of people, but I had an overall satisfying experience and would recommend it.

Our first time here. We are completely satisfied. The sushi and ramen are fantastic. This will be on the top of our list of recommended places for sushi. The hostess was fantastic, she attended to all the customers by herself with a friendly smile.

Was craving Sushi last night after work and was super happy to find them still open. Had a couple of different types of rolls and an appetizer and was exactly what I wanted.Staff was super friendly and welcomed me as soon as I walked in the door. The server that took my order was very attentive and polite, while I needed help with the menu.If I'm ever looking for great sushi and good service, I know where to go from now on.

This place is the truest definition of the phrase hidden gem.Having enjoyed sushi from a wide range of restaurants while visiting Tokyo, this spot is my pic for authentic Nigiri, atmosphere, and, most importantly, service.Being a lifelong county local, I've always known this establishment has been here forever, but would tend to frequent my fave spot until the owner pulled up stakes to move home (RIP Kojyo). However, on a whim I decided to try my luck here and was blown away by my experience.First of all, the restaurant is set up with 2 entrances: one for the very small (like 10 person max) dining room/ bar well and another for the even smaller sushi bar, with the chef's microscopic plating area separating the two rooms. Very reminiscent of the Izekaya style and a huge plus in my book.I put in my Sushi Litmus Test Order: Salmon and Unagi Nigiri with a bonus Dynamite Roll as I'm a sucker for anything with baked scallops.I do not exaggerate when I say this was the BEST sushi I have had in years: Salmon like biting into firm cream cheese, Unagi that melted in your mouth with just the right amount of char from the grill, and the Dynamite was everything I've sorely missed from Kojyo's Baked Scallop Roll. So much so, that I went back maybe 5 days later to repeat the experience. This is where the exemplary service begins. The charming young lady who took my order both visits would graciously offer me a seat at one of the tables to wait, but I would decline and go for a short walk so as not to take up space that another patron could occupy.Upon my return on the second visit, the young lady asked me to come inside as the chef wished to speak with me. They softly insisted that I have a seat and as settings were being prepared at the bar, the chef was very apologetic, explaining that my order was "complete" but that he had forgotten to add cream cheese to the Dynamite Roll and was making a new one.As he was speaking, he plated up half of the first roll and added all the final touches, asking me to try it and render a verdict. I was beyond stoked to be asked for my opinion on this, so I enjoyed the hell out of every morsel and confirmed what he already knew: the roll was near perfect as it stood but the cream cheese was needed to round out the medly of flavors going on in the dish to make it a perfect 10.We talked a bit further while he finished the order and it was clear that this was a man of integrity; he professionally owned the mistake, rectified it before I knew there was an issue, and even shared the roll he could have just put aside or thrown away with me being none the wiser. It was evident beyond words that he took pride in his work and, by proxy, the complete satisfaction of everyone who gets to enjoy the culinary delights he provides. With all the above added together, I think I've found my new favorite local spot. The only downside I can think of is the lack of parking, which I will detail below.Parking: If people are not driving land yachts, there is space for maybe 3 cars in front of the restaurant, with a seemingly nondesignated, poorly paved parking lot in the alley behind the restaurant that is shared by at least 4 businesses.I only ordered to go between 5pm and 7pm both visits, and didn't think to ask about their parking situation as I hadn't left my car for very long.

Great food and great service! I tried this place on a Friday night after trying a spot on main street with an hour wait and decided to come try this place out instead. IM SO GLAD I DID. Not only was i sat right away, my waitress was super attentive and my food came out very quickly. I ordered miso soup and a sushi roll called Asian beauty. Probably was the best roll I've had in Ventura. This is now my new Go-to spot in town

We have tried most of the menu on our numerous visits...we have not been disappointed with any of our choices!! My favorite is the Avacado Bomb. Oscar is skilled at preparing sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls. Crowded at times but worth the wait.

The waitress was very accommodating. I called to see if they didn't mind me coming in at 145 and they stayed open fifteen after just to be nice. The waitress also accommodated my friends son who was on the spectrum. 5 stars for that. The fish is fresh that's why I go here. Saw the review on prices and the menu and all I have to say is sushi is never cheap so if you're going to be cheap don't eat sushi. I ate a ton and was pleased with price. The place is small but I like the ambiance. I live in midtown and I think it's the best sushi in the area. Thanks again I'll be back! Heidi

NEW FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT OF MINE. After living in Ventura for a year now, I'm happy to have found them. Love the fact that they are at the intersection of Seaward and Main and easy to find. Parking can be located along seaward or you can find parking at the rear of the resteraunt by the alley way. We made reservations on Yelp for a Saturday and when we got in at 7pm, they were busy. We took this as a good sign and our server seated us right away and was extremely helpful. We decided to order the miso soup, a vegas roll, and a Asian beauty roll and it was all so good! Our food was out within 10-15 minutes of ordering so that was a good plus for us. Very fresh fish which was a huge plus and their flavors were very rich, subtle yet bold. Vegas roll was the star of the night for us, would have to rate that a 9/10. The Asian beauty roll would have to rate a 8 out of 10. Overall, we can't wait to come back and try other items. Menu has a good variety of speciality rolls so we will be coming back for that. Thanks seaward sushi for the good food and hospitality. Please be sure to support this local 805 buisness. You defenitly won't regret it.

Didn’t like the service the waitress provided to us after asking if we can sit in a larger table. When clearly there wasn’t any other guests at the time of arrival. Minutes after her attitude, we decided to leave. Food might be great according to reviews, but with unprofessional staff that’s sets the tone on how the evening is going to be at your location.

Got a piece of sushi (covered in a sweet ponzu) ... fish a little smelly and bad texture. Spicy tuna loaded with sesame, no flavorSalmon skin roll, was like skin flakes. No good pieces. Wasn't cooked fresh... don't know where it came from. ...bad facsimile of sushi.
