Ordered Caldo de Res... Or is excellent. The perfect amount of deliciousness. The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is nice. It's like a small bar and restaurant. I'll have to remember this spot on the future.

The place is nice and clean, servers were nice but the girl had been there a year and did not know the menu and did not check with us after serving our food. I ordered a steak torta and it looked delicious,but after biting into it there was a couple slices of ham which was not on the menu nor do I eat pork. I addressed it to waitress and she apologized and so did the cook and I made sure I explained that I need a fresh one because I don't eat pork and they made me a new one and it was good and I could only eat half. I went to pay and asked them for a to go box and a side of the chipotle 2oz cup and they said yes BUT charged me 1.99 and I asked what was the charge for and she said for the sauce. I told the waitress that wasn't nice to charge me for that little sauce after they made me the wrong order and she did not seem concerned. I paid the whole bill including the sauce and left the food and again they did care about customer service. I hope they work on this with their team and we will never be back. TY

WHAT: Early dinner on Wednesday (29 Feb 24) for my wife and myself POINT OF REFERENCE: This past Sunday, we had an early dinner at La Especial Norte in Encinitas THE GOOD: Place was clean and appropriately appointed. Owner and wife were very pleasant. EAT-IN ORDER: Chicken Quesadilla ($13.99), Anchiote Enchilada ($11.99), Rice & Beans ($3.99), Soft Drink ($3.99) OBSERVATION: Chicken in the quesadilla was dried out and tough as was the beef in the enchilada. The beans & rice were also dried out and appeared to be a lunch left over. The chips were warm and crispy. The salsa offering was very small but tasty. We had a few bites, had most of it boxed up and actually threw it away when we got home. As an aside, we always attempt to support the small "mom & pop" operations whenever possible.

The food, the service, the ambiance is purely perfect! First visit in on a whim and will definitely be back. The salsa bar was awesome too. The portions are huge!!

So-so expensive food. I got 3 flautas (rolled taco size) for $10. Lots of parking, clean facility. Typical scenery and music for taco shop. The cashier wasn't rude but not friendly either.
Not as good as the San Marcos Tony's which is where we get our foods all the time. Here is Vista they cook there carne asada in chorizo oil or something you can taste it. Ruins the dish... We thought it was a one-time thing but gave it another chance but it's not a one time thing...
