Wow! The piroshki I just ate was amazing! So tasty. Inside is a market and small deli. There are a few tables for eating, but it seems that mostly food is ordered to take home.

Incredible! This place is truly a gem. Very clean, organized, and lots of products to choose from. I decided to dine-in and try the Beet soup which is perfect for a cloudy day. The flavor is incredible! A huge thank you to the customer service associates that helped me navigate through the store and find the Polish Products that I was looking for. This is my first time here but definitely won't be my last.

This is authentic Eastern European grocery shop with self made cuisine. I absolutely love cottage cheese - sirniki here. They are one of a kind and do not contain much flower.Plov is also something I recommend to try if you eat lamb meet. As to the salads like: olivie, shuba, vinegrette and beets salad still cannot compete with my Babushka (grandmother). However, I would give them a better than average credit.Overall, warm service and clean place, I enjoy coming here to get tea, honey, coffee and cakes.Average bill groceries +food $100-150, again depends on your aim.Enjoy, ?

Even though I go here once or twice a year I do it because they do make good Russian food with good attitude. It's a fun place to visit to try things out if your comfort zone if you are American like holodetz or bring back memories from your time back home if you come from former Soviet block.

I had no idea we had a Russian bakery in Walnut Creek until I came across this place. Tucked on the south end of the downtown area, this market sells fresh Piroshki Yeast Dough with so much variety and different flavors. My parents got the beef and mushroom, and they loved it. I tried the beef-only, and I was really happy with my choice. This beef piroshki tasted very similar to Indonesian style "roti bakso" which I ate a lot of when I was small, so it definitely made my reminisce a bit. I loved the good amount of ground beef filling they put inside the bread. The ground beef itself didn't have intense flavor, but it was seasoned just enough. But to me the bread was what really stole the show - it was a baked bread but it tasted like deep fried. It had so much flavor just on its own. And together with the beef filling, the bread created a wholesome meal. I definitely would get this again. The price was $6 each piroshki (as for April 2024), but given the size, I think that pricing was justifiable. I would get this again and maybe even try their other baked goods.

Everything about russian and ukrainian food can be found here, plus best quality freshly cooked homemade dishes, homemade vareniki and pelmeni, and pastry, bread, candies. All cooking for holidays can be solved here. Family owned business, never had any problems. Very good location. Very happy with "Babushka". Thank you!

I was so happy to find Babushka in Walnut Creek. Tried both styles of piroshki, and they were well made. The dough tasted fresh and the filling to dough was the perfect ratio. It is also a cute little store with what looks like Russian/Ukrainian staples/cookies/foods. Inside has four tables you can sit down, have some coffee and pastries to pass a few minutes of your day.

What a hidden gem in Walnut Creek. If you're looking for Eastern European / Jewish food you've come to the right spot. My quest to find chopped liver that rivals my Great Grandmother's recipe had ended at Babushka. If anything Babushka is a little creamier than hers, but the flavor profile is identical. Pair it with a nice Jewish rye

Staff was super helpful. I have had piroshki's before but never from a deli (prepackaged processed ones before). The atmosphere was a typical well out together deli with lots of Russian treats. There were some pretty good items... but most were a little bland for me.I always like to try new foods and this one just didn't leave me wanting to come back and try again. There was a quaint little patio outside in the back which would be perfect from the upcoming seasons.

Also!!! Order directly from them! I just went in today. The piroshki's are only $5.99 and the puff pastry ones right under $4! Yelp has the pricing listed wrong. The piroshki's are not $10. The owner is a super sweet dude! Thanks Leo!

It is both a shop and a cafe. When I placed my order, all my needs were met, would you like more sour cream in the borscht? Here you go. Salo? Sure, not a problem. Garlic? Yes, it’s generally easy. I ate borscht and pilaf and it was delicious. I took with me more dumplings, a cake, and Olivier. Well, why do I need all this? If you haven’t seen normal food for a long time, then be prepared for your eyes to run in different directions. I want this and that, and here’s this one on top with a mound. And the most important thing is that everyone smiled at me, asked if everything suited me, if there was anything I could add or add. The American service definitely lacks this.

cute little store/cafe nestled downtown with some great russian fresh and frozen foods. The Cafe is only open Tuesday-Sunday so we couldn't get Pelmeni that we wanted but we got some frozen with some borstch and a chicken and mushroom piroshki to take home! Everything was great, reminded me of my grandmothers cooking and the staff was very friendly. Would love to go back to get their prepared dishes. Would come again if I'm craving a homey dish of food!

Holy smokes this place is a hidden gem! So I have probably walked by this place a thousand times. But yesterday was the first time I went in to explore. The store is clean, organized and full of really interesting foods ( I'm not personally too well versed in Russian/ Polish/ Ukrainian foods). So I loved looking at everything. At the end, I ended up trying the cherry piroshki and it was great. First off, it's huge, filled with cherry jam, and not oily to the touch. The man working there warmed it for me and even gave me utensils. I ended up sitting in the patio area devouring it. Highly recommend!
