Really disappointing evening celebrating my birthday due to some incompetence with server and lack of customer service from staff and ownership. They seem to care more about lining their pockets and taking advantage of a customer than listening to customer and come to a fair and reasonable conclusion. No physical menus are provided so server just input things from an electronic device and when there was confusion around particular drink order they did not confirm with us or disclose cost. End of the night came an ask for $205 for one drink of tequila. When asking for clarification they brought over a bible of a menu and showed that the shot was $175. Then they stated that because drink had a splash of soda and a lime it was considered a cocktail and added $30 to the price. None of this was disclosed at the time of ordering and they demanded payment or to call the Sheriff. Safe to say our group will never return to this establishment.

I regret to express my dissatisfaction with Hops & Scotch in Walnut Creek. This venue falls short in terms of integrity and professionalism, with seemingly uninformed staff. Our group visited twice in one evening (before and after dinner); initially we were only planning to celebrate at Hops & Scotch for a birthday toast. After dinner we walked back to this bar due to our large group's preference not to drive down the road which turned out to be a huge mistake. My initial drink I ordered was a Clase Azul cocktail and was only $47.During the second visit, we were informed that we couldn't order from the bar because of our group size (party of 8 with 4 stools open at a bar, seemed ridiculous), so we waited several minutes for a table to open up. The waitress that took our drink orders used a handheld device, eliminating the presentation of a physical menu (which we discovered later was quite extensive and about an inch thick). We informed the waitress of our earlier visit and our intention to order the same drinks. I mentioned I previously ordered a Clase Azul on the rocks, only to be told they didn't have it. After some scrolling on her handheld device, the waitress eventually found several options, indicating a lack of familiarity with the bar's offerings. She asked which one I wanted, and I said I wasn’t sure what was in my 1st order. I guessed it was Anejo but later found out it was Reposado. The cost of one pour was never disclosed to me, as mentioned we were ordering from her handheld device.Drinks took over 20 minutes, and we the bar was supposed to be closing at 11 but several people were still at the front of the bar being served. When attempting to settle the bill, we discovered that the tequila with a splash of soda water amounted to $205, which was a complete surprise to us ((and they also charged 20% gratuity without my knowledge). As mentioned, the cost was never brought up during our order, leaving us puzzled. The manager insisted that it was on the menu, but we never received one or were informed of the price by our waitress.The situation escalated, with staff discussing it openly with the patrons at the bar and one employee harassing my husband as he carried gifts to the car. Seeking resolution, we requested the Sheriff's intervention since the manager (and the owner by phone) was unaccommodating. Our intention was never to avoid payment, but rather to point out the waitress’s lack of communication on the drink cost and for her oversight.

As far as the food gores, the Pepperoni Flatbread was delicious and everything one could ask for in such a treat. I had thought I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala naan taco, but was delivered the Chana Masala one instead. Let's just chalk that up to a moderately noisy environment. The naan taco was very good, and I would like to sample more of these creations in the future. The Chai Old-Fashioned was okay, but the burnt cinnamon stick did not really have the smokey impact I wanted. I just think that is the wrong type of thing to add smoke to a cocktail, I guess. The Manhattan, however, was phenomenal! Would highly recommend to anyone who drinks those. The service this particular night was a little slow, and it wasn't until after we ordered our drinks that the server clarified that they are still using the QR code menu for now. The service wasn't pleasant and friendly, just not very attentive.
It’s a great place to stop by and have a few beers, unwind, and relax. Service is awesome and location can’t be better.

Service is always great! Warm hospitality and very knowledgeable about their tastings. This is my 3rd time here and definitely returning again with more friends.
The server was rude from the moment we walked in. We were a large party of friends catching up for the holidays. Drinks took forever to order. We ordered 2 food items and she brought 1. No napkins or plates.... She was slow with replenishing drinks. The service was awful. Will never go back which is a shame because my friends and I live close. Awful.
