Ate breakfast at Black Bear Diner in Walnut Creek. Egg cooked perfectly. Potatoes and ham were old and stale. Biscuit was awful…couldn’t even bit into. Server brought me new biscuit which was great. But, how can they serve old and stale food. I was disappointed.

I just enjoy my meals here. We like to go before or after the regular dinner time. We can enjoy the atmosphere & the nice people who work here! They have several different types of food, great breakfasts. The baked goods taste real good later at home warmed up with milk.I hope you have the same kind of experience.Parking: The restaurant is out front of a large Safeway. Black Bear has it's own parking lot & then Safeway has a large are to park. Very close to restaurant.Kid-friendliness: I have never watched any employee be anything but kind, gracious & helpful with the children/teens.Wheelchair accessibility: The sidewalk around the restaurant has more than 1 ramp to access. The way to the restuarant is clear & there is plenty of room to maneuver the chair if necessary.

We had breakfast this morning at Black Bear on Bancroft. Rebecca waited on us and is excellent with customer service. Mario is there with his welcoming smiles. The greeter and bus girl are friendly. They have chosen excellent staff to complement their food.

I almost always get the Chicken Strips. They are probably my favorite anywhere. But the size of their strips has been shrinking over the last few years. And their homemade Ranch dressing with bacon in it, us to die for.Overall, hearty portions at a decent price.

As usual there was plenty of food and tasty as usual. The restaurant itself was very dirty. Of all the Black Bear locations I've been to this has got to be the worst. Ceiling fans had cobwebs hanging off them and going the wrong direction, which caused my food to get cold in a hurry. I hope the kitchen is in better condition than the dining room.☠️

Have breakfast, lunch, or dinner anytime. Shout out to Megan and Mary! I probably go here once a week. The omlettes are great really large. The pancakes are very tasty. I like the Tri tip dip with green beans at night. They also serve beer and wine. It's a nice cozy place to have a casual meal with friends and family.

First time I've had chicken and waffles and what a great experience, the chicken was not greasy and very tender. We also ordered the coconut pie, which was divine. Linda was very kind and helpful guiding us through our questions!

Terrible, careless, customer service. Starting with no greeting which is fine but if you have time to gossip amongst each other, look at me, and keep talking you have time to greet. Overall bothered personalities. Maybe overworked idk! #rudeFailed to put all items in my order (I will take partial blame for not checking myself) but when called to inform them they literally whispered as if I couldn’t hear and left me on hold for 10+ minutes same two young ladies. Not to mention I was on hold forever trying to put the order in. Had to call 3x. Should have never continued to attempt to give my business they obviously didn’t want it.Hate to review like this but sucks to experience. Everyone wants to love the hometown diner feel. Absolutely not here.

Phenomenal service by Mario. From the moment we walked in he was kind and helpful. He anticipated our need for space for our little ones car seat and offered a table that I could keep baby next to me. He was so friendly and gave us excellent customer service. He was on top of everything and it was a great experience. Thank you, Mario!!
