We wanted to try El Alteno again as it has been about a year since we were last here. The food was okay, but nothing exceptional. Our server was pleasant, but mixed up the order. We wanted sopes and the enchiladas verde. We received two orders of enchiladas -- one with mole rojo and one with mole verde.

If you guys aren't getting their molcajetes mixtos, you are missing out! We drive all the way from Santa Cruz for these!!

the food says authentic but unfortunately it was very bland with no flavor. the carnita burrito was horrible with a smoke flavoring on the meat and had absolutely no spice to it at all. the chile verde plate was ok but beans were awful.

Food is not good and the owner is very rude to customers and her employees! Her chairs were broken, she'll try to overcharge you so CHECK YOUR RECEIPT, would never ever go again! La comida no está buena y la dueña es bien sangrona.

The food was meh, the service was worse, which just leaves the ambiance. That's not going to fix extremely sad ratings in the more important categories. How is this place still in business?

I love coming here for fresh home made Mexican food. Today I had the "molcajete". Marinated steak, fresh veggies, tender cactus, beans on the side and fresh hand made corn tortillas.

We got the veggie and steak tostadas to go. Fresh and delicious! Great service ! Next time I visit Watsonville, I'll be looking forward to stopping. Unfortunately it was raining or the patio is where I would option for dining. I made the veggie tostada vegan ( no dairy ). All sides were in small to go cups inside larger container which helps with spilling inside container.

You know the food is good when people don't even talk to each other. I've been here a few times and this review is long over due. I always order their veggie fajita burrito, it's a bit on the pricey side but you get your moneys worth cause it's PACKED. Then I add extra verde sauce to it, taste great! It's simple and delicious. Now to the little details: The music inside and outside got me vibing a great way to pass the time while I waited for my burrito to be made. The atmosphere inside is inviting and authentic transporting you into a little piece of Mexico (at least I think so lol). It's very reasonable for the portions you get and the quality of the food is great! The workers here are always quick and nice. I highly recommend and I will continue to come back, thank you for the hospitality!
