Is the chicken box on Amar & Valinda permanently closed ? I was so excited when they opened up because it's the best chicken & I don't have to drive all the way to La Habra . Please tell me there opening again at West Covina ?

After trying to call a few times I called the La Habra location to ask about this West Covina location. I was told they are currently under staffed but fo plan to re-open. I ordered from La Habra & tried the ribs for the first time. They were fall off the bone delicious.

I've tried multiple times to stop in and pick up myself some dinner on the way into work around 6:15 & 6:30 pm and each time they have been closed already. But the hours on Yelp and the front door says that they're open until 7 pm. I've also tried calling to put in a pickup order around 10 after 6 pm and the lady that answered the phone for one was rude and told me that she couldn't take my order because they were closing soon and I asked her, aren't you open until 7 pm and she hung up on me. Terrible way to run a restaurant business!

Saw a big sign outside saying they now offer garlic soy fried chicken. Decided give it a try and it came out super fresh and tasty! Only gripe I have is that I wish they would have longer business hours for late dinners.

It was a great surprise. We live nearby; cute little shop. We ordered the 5 chicken wing meal. Great portion; the chicken was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. If you order the hot chicken (not listed on the menu), portion comes in half chicken or whole chicken; then decide the spice or go with special flavor such as spicy garlic, etc.

Sorry "Tom C." of Rowland Heights, 04/08/2021, this chicken is WAY TOO SALTY! Cut the salt by at least 50%! Management/Ownership must've changed, because around two months ago, their chicken wasn't quite as salty. If I wrote this review two months ago, I would've given Chicken Box 4 stars. Overall, barring the SALT, I feel this broasted chicken is much healthier that the traditional deep-fried chicken.

Waited about 20min for my food but it was worth the wait they make it pretty good and tasty. I got the spicy chicken box and it was just enough spice and sauce. They didn't overwhelm the chicken in it, the crunch was perfect. It's a small spot in the plaza on amar st by stater bros. They have social distancing and masks signs up. Would come again thank you.

My daughter eats more chicken then a loose fox at the Perdue plant, so we are always looking for new chicken places to try. We both felt a little mixed about this one. There's no question that the chicken is a perfect mix of crispy coating and juicy meat. It's not particularly seasoned though and feels like it's lacking a little bit of flavor. I like my chicken a bit salty and herby and I didn't find that here. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the meat is better than what you'd get from the major chicken chains, but pieces lean toward the small side. We ultimately felt like everything was pretty good but wouldn't go out of our way to have it again. Final verdict a 3 star, which places it firmly in the average territory . We rolled in just a few minutes before closing and they were super nice about it, even though it meant them having to make food fresh for us.
I really enjoyed the broasted chicken / it's lightly breaded / has a nice crunch / juicy / pieces are small / prices are high.

THIS ESTABLISHMENT DOES NOT ENFORCE COVID 19 MANDATES! No social distancing...no masks. Signs are posted, but employees DO NOT enforce! We arrived to pick up our order. There was an elderly gentleman placing his order so we waited outside. As we waited, a employee came from the back and asked the gentleman to put on his mask. He claims he forgot or didn't have one. She said something that sounded like Spanish and then walked back into the kitchen. The employee behind the cash register continued with the gentleman's order. After the gentleman finished placing his order...he sat in his walker in front of the cash resister blocking access for any other customer to reach the counter. We waited outside since we did not want to be exposed to the MASKLESS customer. The employee behind the cash register brought out our order and flagged us to come in. I believe he recognized us as we come on a fairly regular basis. My husband stepped in to pay and made a comment to the employee about the MASKLESS customer. The employee's response was that the customer claims he had been vaccinated. He then adds I've been vaccinated as well. But...that is not the point. We probably started coming here about 6 months ago because we like their chicken. It is cooked to order and always fresh and crispy. The mashed potatoes are real and not the instant stuff. The chicken vegetable soup is flavorful and tastes homemade. We have tried to patronize the local businesses in our area during this difficult time. I'm sad that it has to come to an end. We will miss this place...but it's not worth taking the risk.

Thank you Alma!! This was our first time here and we admittedly came a bit close to closing. Despite that, Alma went above and beyond and helped us out. The food was delicious! The ribs fell apart in your mouth, the chicken was extremely flavorful and crispy. Nothing was dry. Definitely must try checking this place out if you haven't already!

This was our 1st visit and were happy with the food. The fried chicken was tasty and not greasy at all. The mashed potatoes were great and you could easily tell they were fresh/made from scratch. The ribs were also tasty and tender. We will definitely be going back. Definitely recommend.
