Would I come back? Yes DEFINITELY! Would I recommend to friends? Yes DEFINITELY! Would I do a business meeting here? Yes DEFINITELY! Great for large groups as well. On my visits here, I only sat at the sushi counter. Amazing sushi with great rice served by Chef Tomo. Their sake list here is interesting with great variety and price points. Most of all, the chef and staff here are super friendly and helpful, and the ambience is perfect for any occasion. I will be back to try their hot food menu but what a great meal. Overall, the value is fantastic. Secret tip: If you eat at the sushi bar you can ask Tomo-San to do a sushi only Omakase!

This is a hidden gem. Celebrated my partners birthday party of 10 last minute and they were accommodating. The server worked hard to make sure everything was perfect and that we were happy. Their selection of sake is extensive, and the food was divine. Fresh and tasty. We will be back!

Best Japanese food that I've ever had outside of Japan! You can tell that the chef is a perfectionist and cares so much about his craft. Every item you receive is perfectly created and of excellent quality. The nigiri just melts into your mouth and everything is so flavorful and well-balanced. The chef mixes traditional Japanese cuisine with some local Californian touches (like avocado and jalapeño peppers on some items). Would highly recommend!

I dont want to give any place only one star, but this was the most I've ever felt ripped off and disappointed. Just not at all anything like what I hoped for or expected. I chose to ignore the other bad reviews. Don't do the same.

My partner and I were so happy to stumble upon Gozen. The food is amazing and leans slightly more on the traditional side with a modern twist. I really appreciated this. And the sake options - oh my my. Be sure to say hello to Mitsuko-san (manager) and ask for her favorite sakes to go with you dinner. She has a passion for sake and will not disappoint!!

Truly amazing. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Los Angeles. Very fresh, interesting combinations as well as classics. The sweetfish was incredible and all the sushi was very tasty and subtle. Great service and delicious sake tasting.

I have yet to have a bad time at Gozen. Their food presentation is always spectacular. The taste is usually on point for me and I love that the menu changes based on what's available/in season. It's one thing to come and eat good food but it's also another to be in an environment of excellence in taste and service. I've had their Spring menus both for 2022 and 2023. Each time the staff went out of their way for us whether it's presenting candles for a birthday or sharing new desserts they're developing. The manager usually stops by the table and makes sure all is well which I appreciate because she's always kind and fun to talk to. The food is A LOT so choose carefully when you're deciding between how many courses you want. I've gotten both the middle and the highest tier before and let me tell you for the highest tier I did not have breathing room by the end of the meal. They're look like small bites but truthfully can pack quite a lot. Overall, this place has a soft spot in my heart because I've always had a great time with service and food.

This is top 2 meals I have had in Los Angeles and makes me so happy that places like this exist.I came here for my 30th birthday and the Sake was good all the tiny bites to large bites were well thought out. I ate on 500 year old plates which was new and shocking. The meat cooked table side was decadent and literally every single course was impressive. -no notes

One of the best Japanese Kaiseki experiences I’ve had in the US. Food was authentic and well prepared. They have an amazing sake list. If you are looking for high end, rare sake to pair with your meal this is perfect. Allows for people to choose different courses so there is flexibility. Will definitely come back again!

You've never had Japanese food like this in LA. Truly. One of my favorite places to go for seasonal fine dining. This is a higher price point but I believe the food and experience makes it well worth it. This is like Omakase but for things beyond just sashimi and sushi. This is a social tasting menu of some really awesome high quality ingredients, all with Japanese dining in mind. This review is for their 2023 Spring Kaiseki menu. --If you are a light eater get the smallest course option for sure called Kaze! --If you want an average to large portion get the second course option called Aya--If you are starving or you can really pack it down get the highest level called Kiwami I got the Aya and was still stuffed afterwards. The ambiance is very small and intimate. Making reservations is highly recommended. But the staff are phenomenal and very attentive. The manager who has been there for several years, she's the best! The last time I went she brought out a special matcha tiramisu dish she was testing out. When I brought someone here for their birthday, they went out of their way to provide service and even lit up a sake bottle with a huge candle along with complimentary dessert. I could not rave more about this place. Parking: paid street parkingSeating: indoor and outdoor tables and booth. If outdoors bring a jacket! Wifi: noPayment: cardVibe: intimate omakase Dress code: business casual to formal (in my opinion, although I did see some people wearing casual clothes)

Highly recommend this hidden Japanese Oasis! The dishes are prepared intricately and they pay great attention to every detail. The menu is always changing (I believe with the season) so all the ingridents are what's freshly available for the season. The staff are super friendly so that make the experience even better! I can't recommend this place enough, it's a must for any special occasion or if you just want to treat yourself.
