The best fast food I have had. EVER.It's the original structure from all of those tv shows & movies and it is now at The Doors 1970 workshop. LA Woman album was recorded at this location. Jim Morrison recorded vocals in the bathroom! Very cool ?

Horrible experience in restaurant. Food was gross, the corn dog looked like it was petrified from hell. The regular hotdogs were sloppily dressed and tasted staler than a 7-11 dog. It was comical to watch a bureaucratic process from line level to manager to figure out to change out a soap dispenser in the bathroom. I’m not going waste my waste my time detailing further but the soap dilemma seemed like something out of an SNL skit given the level of disfunction between the staff. Never will go again.

Not only a healthy corn dog & gluten free with a fun environment and kind staff. And no need for Tum's after 2 dogs!! ?Vegetarian options: Do you know what goes in normal hot dogs?? I now can enjoy corn dogs again

Over $30 for 2 dogs, 2 fries, and 1 drink. The place was great except for the price. But then, under Biden, everything has become super expensive.

Honestly not sure what I expected, but this still fell below my expectations. The hot dog almost immediately fell out of the corn shell, which itself was pasty and too thick. And the hot dog itself was low quality, greasy and unsatisfying even by hot dog standards. Left a literal bad taste in my mouth that lingered a long time.It also took a long time to arrive, but I don’t blame the staff for that - they were friendly and hardworking. Atmosphere was fun too.Again not sure what I was expecting. If you’re extremely drunk and looking for something greasy this will do the job. Otherwise I’d say it’s best to avoid this ten dollar stomachache with tons of calories and no flavor to justify it.

I broke on through and got myself the 1946 combo. The hot dog was cooked to perfection and the taste was off the hook delicious. The French fries are done right too. Sitting in the old Door's workshop having a dog was worth it. I'll be back.

My final review for the "tail end" of 2023 is the historic Los Angeles landmark: "Tail O' the Pup!"It goes without saying that the "Tail O' the Pup" is not your ordinary hot dog joint, but for the uninitiated, here's some backstory: Originally built in 1946, the legendary hot dog-shaped walk-up restaurant is one of L.A.'s last standing examples of mimetic architecture (buildings that are designed to look like the product they sell). It's an L.A. favourite not only to tourists, but to locals & celebrities alike including Jay Leno, the late Betty White, Sigourney Weaver, the "Go-Gos," "The Muppets," & more. Although the original location closed in 2005, the iconic hot dog stand was eventually restored & relocated to West Hollywood where it currently sits today. The new location was not only restored to look almost exactly as it did before, but it is now attached to an additional building that accommodates a generous amount of on-site seating (upstairs & downstairs). Fun fact: The new location's attached building is actually a former recording studio where "The Doors" recorded their album "L.A. Woman!"The "Tail O' the Pup" menu features a nice variety of offerings to accommodate a variety of dietary preferences including beef & vegan burgers, soft serve ice cream, fries, onion rings, gluten-free corn dogs & veggie dogs, beef & vegan chili, chicken nuggets, a doggy menu, alcoholic beverages, & of course...several different types of hot dogs. They even have a have a hot dog with a super cute puppy dog-shaped bun! The all-beef franks are served hot, fresh, & delicious in a soft pillow-y bun, & have that glorious "snap" when you bite into them. My only (minor) complaint is that the hot, fresh, & crispy shoestring-style fries were switched out to greasier, heavier, & saltier battered fries --- *sad face*. Front-facing staff (inside the hot-dog structure) are friendly, patient, & helpful. On our first visit, the associate inside the hot dog structure was very kind & gave us fun stickers & hats, & patiently let us check out their cute merchandise up-close. Noticing our masks & that we had ordered to-go (but still wanted to take photos), she kindly sanitized a tray for us, plated our food so we could take a few photos, & provided extra bags so that we could pack everything up to-go as we were planning to eat afterwards in an environment safer for those of us who are immune-compromised. She even stopped by again to give us a few more fun little souvenirs. Thanks for being so considerate! Very cool!!!If you're in the L.A. area, definitely check out "Tail O' the Pup!" I can't wait to come back & try the corn dogs!Tip: Parking available via street meter & parking lot opposite of Shake Shack.

Looks closed. Again.Kid-friendliness: You order from a giant hot dog (with a guy inside). This giant hot dog was from the 50s. It has been at several locations.

I'm trying to remember the last time I bought food from a business that was actually shaped like the food itself. I think probably never. It's hard to ignore the stand on Santa Monica Blvd.because the visual impact of a gigantic hot dog certainly helps in triggering an impulse purchase. At least that's what happened to Jamie W. and me. Yes, we wanted a hot dog real bad.Actually not a hot dog but a corn dog, and we were intrigued by the idea of a Jumbo Corn Dog at $7.95. We ordered a couple, and they were indeed quite big and rather phallic, appropriate for WeHo (photo: yelp.to/UAclblVSnf). With a major splooge of Dijon mustard, it was pretty good. The frank was juicy though the cornmeal coating was still heavy from the fryer. Oh well, corn dog down.FOOD - 3 stars...not my favorite corn dog but it'll doAMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...LA kitsch at its kitschiestSERVICE - 3.5 stars...just doing their jobsTOTAL - 3 stars...when you want to bite into a wiener in WeHoRELATED - Exploring LA? This place has really excellent tasting hot dogs and burgers. Was surprised how good the hot dog was.We also got a special pup dog with bacon flavor cheese ( non dairy) which our two dogs split, they were super obedient and attentive from the first bite and it was a winner for them also.Lots of seating and it serves beer / wine also. One of the few places that still has the giant soda dispensing machines with the touch screen and multiple flavors. Many were shut down during COVID and did not come back.
