My husband and daughter had diarrhea after we dined at this restaurant. He ordered "Com Tam, Thit Nuong, & Nem Nuong (Broken Rice with BBQ Pork, & Meat Balls), and she ordered Bun Bo Hue ("Hue" Beef Noodle). He was hungry so ate most of his dinner plate. He said some of the broken rice was wet and clumpy; the BBQ meat tasted "off"; and the meat balls were mushy like they've been stored a long time in the freezer before eaten. My daughter finished only a quarter of her noodle bowl before she couldn't eat anymore - the meat didn't taste right to her. She said the cooked beef slices were pink instead of the normal brown color. I had Broken Rice with Shrimp and Tofu. I didn't have stomach problems, but the fish sauce tasted and smelled awful. We came around 6PM but there were just us and another lone diner at another table. The terrible food we had eaten there, maybe explains the reason there were so few customers coming to this restaurant at peak dinning time. We would never return to this restaurant.

Their broken rice dishes are good. My favorite toppings are grilled meat, fried tofu skin wrapped shrimp paste, and steamed egg cake (Cơm tấm: tàu hũ ky, thịt nướng, chả trứng). They also have fresh pennywort juice (Rau má). They were also able to accommodate our request for no sugar. This is important because most places have it pre-maid with a gallon of sweetener. I would come back to try their bánh hỏi dishes (vermicelli noodle paddies). Portions are small, so if you're a hungry bear, you might need two plates. Atmosphere: there's no music nor TV, the impending quietness was awkward and interesting. I never knew I would find relief from crying children tables over. They accept credit cards: minimum $10.

One of my favorite places. Com Tam Tran has great food and inexpensive plates to order. Depnding what is is, Some plates are a little pricey. I ordered my Pork Steak, Rice and shrimp cake plate. Food is absolutely delicious. Been coming here a very long time like i mentioned in my other yelp. I will continue to eat here. Staff are nice here. There a little shy and some dont speak any english. So be patient.

Amazing authentic colorful Vietnamese dishes Highly recommended! This just reopened for dining again but they also offer take out. The food was delicious and the staff was very quick, attentive, and friendly.

I'm not from Santa Ana but every time I make a road trip here, I make sure to visit this place every time. Their food is delicious and always freshly made. You are usually seated immediately and the food comes out really quickly! The meat is very flavorful and the fried fish patty is always so crispy. The servings are also very large, so you know you'll never leave with an empty stomach. I wish they had this restaurant where I'm from. Funny store actually, I left my retainers here in a napkin and only realized I did after 20 minutes into my car drive. I circled back and had to dig through the trash to find it. You have no idea how worried I was. A lot of the workers helped me and there was even a man that was off the clock that helped me! They were so sweet and patient. We eventually found it and one of the workers that was off the clock even washed my retainers for me. Where else can you find this kind of service? Customer Service: 100/10 Food: 10/10 Cleanliness: 9/10

Came here to grab something to eat for lunch. It was quite empty and lonely, but decided to give out this small biz a try! I ordered a broken rice with shredded pork pieces, egg, and grilled pork (Com tam bi cha thit) and it was $6.75. Prices were not bad, plus tax came out to about $8. The portion was decent, and the food actually tasted fresh, the grilled pork was delicious and it was clean. The preserved veggies were crunchy and had a refreshing taste. The only thing I think that needs some improvement was the egg (cha), it was flavorless and bland. It was sad to see so many food places in the area, but there were some lonely restaurants like these that deserves some love.

i ordered here on Father Day, June 2021. The restaurant only offers take-out, no dine-in yet. It was empty and quiet. Take-out food was good, my pork-chop was a bit dry. Pricing is very reasonable comparing to other places.

My favorite number 13.

Prices are average, buy you get a lot of food for the price and the place always seems to have no or short lines.

I rarely write review on Yelp but I just hope that my positive review can help this small business reach out more customers in this difficult time. My husband and I tried a couple of broken rice restaurants around here such as Thanh, Que Huong, Dao Vien but we always come back to this place for broken rice with grilled pork chop. I'm a vermicelli girl so I like to order vermicelli with grilled pork chops. Their quality is consistent. They actually grill the pork chops, so the meat taste awesome, not like other places which use ovens instead. Moreover, a lot of restaurants raise their price recently. Tran Qui Cap restaurant keep the same. Today, I paid only $13.5 for 2 huge portions which may cost us at least 18 to 20 bucks if I go to other restaurants. The owner talked to me nicely when I called for ordering and he asked me if I need him to wait outside for picking up food because of the construction outside the restaurant. My house near Dao Vien restaurant, and their quality is good as well, but we decided to drive a little further to support the Tran Quy Cap restaurant. Hope the restaurant can overcome this pandemic.

Worst experience! Foods were mediocre in general, bun bo hue was meh. Terrible service. The old man at the cashier looked like he didn't want to take my order, might as well turn off your "Open" sign.
