If I could give El Gallo Negro a negative star rating, I most certainly would! The owner, Pedro Diaz, runs his business on bad faith and terrible business practices. I had a work event planned at this business that has been on the books for 3 months. Although we already confirmed with the business 1.5 months ago, I thought that I should double back and re-confirm. When I called to confirm the second time, they told me that they didn't have any event on their calendar, which to say the least was very disconcerting. The worker that I spoke to told me to call back the next day to speak to their manager, Alma. The next day, I called and spoke to Alma, and conveyed my concerns about how my coworker already confirmed and now the event is not even on their calendar. After talking to Alma, she ended the call with, "yes, it is on the calendar now and you are confirmed." The next day, due to a completely different and unrelated situation between my employer and the owner turning sour, Alma called my coworker and cancelled the event last minute because the owner, Pedro Diaz, "doesn't want us there!" To say the least, as someone who has been part of the Windsor Business Community for the past 12 years, I am thoroughly disappointed that the owner of El Gallo Negro would let personal feelings of an unrelated situation to this event, affect everything else. I for one will not be supporting this business ever again, as well as any of his other restaurants. If you are thinking about holding a business event or professional group at this establishment, I recommend taking your business somewhere else! I hope this helps and sheds light on bad business practices that this business demonstrates.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The mole' sauce is excellent, the margaritas were festive and strong, and our server was awesome. If you want to try something new in margaritas, this is the place! Care in preparation and presentation were both evident in our meals.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I finally need to for this place. Seem to forget to put the salad dressing in the bag for their fajita salads almost every-time I go. The most recent time she offered me refund of $1 for the dressing. The dressing makes the salad!!

We get take out here all the time. The drive thru is easy and always good. We love the super burritos, chimichangas, fajita salad, and the salsa is our fav here.
My husband and I were delighted when we arrived on Superbowl Sunday our server in the bar had some wonderful suggestions. Everything we ordered was outstanding. My hibiscus ? was top notch with spices and fresh flowers. The food was so authentic and reminded me of my grandmothers cooking, mouthwatering! Don't miss the churros for dessert, complete with strawberries and caramel filling. I can't wait to go back.

My favorite restaurant. The best margaritas, chimichangas, ceviche, nachos & more. I could literally drink their salsa. I adore the fountain in the center of their covered, outdoor seating area, and if available I choose sitting next to it. And even though I feel like it's been awhile since they've had live music, (I'm probably wrong) it's one of the greatest charms about this place. We come often, but specifically came on Valentines day with our little, and it was so nice to have that going on. She loved watching him play his guitar and sing, and if you have any young kids who love music, this makes for a very relaxing and calm dining experience. She also loves their kid's chicken quesadilla with beans and rice. The servers are always kind and helpful with suggestions. Yeah, I could pretty much go on and on about this place. Oh, they also have a drive-thru (which is so crazy to me! In a good way). I love the atmosphere so much that we only used it during covid times, but the food was just as good then as it is ordering inside. 10/10 love this restaurant.Parking: Front side is usually full but the backside has parking as well. Depends on how busy, but I've never been unable to get a spot.Kid-friendliness: I've always seen families here, which has always made me feel comfortable bringing our toddler. Their menu doesn't directly have a kids menu on it, but the servers offer plenty of options when asked or will simply give you options without being asked.Wheelchair accessibility: No steps! Tables are far enough apart for wheelchairs. Staff is always very helpful with moving chairs as needed.
My daughter and I had the pleasure of dining at El Gallo Negro this past Saturday evening. What a fantastic experience!! From the very beginning when we walked into the patio and were welcomed very warmly, to them allowing us to bring our small dog to dine in the patio. The service was excellent (one server even gave our pooch a dog biscuit), and the food was amazing!!! Really appreciate all of the attention and wonderful experience. We are telling our friends and family. We will return!!

History of having rats / roaches and they still do , anonymous source I’m friends with who who (to keep anonymity) worked/ works there, told me it’s still a issue there. They had to close / change there name to re open because of the health code violations last time.
