Had our wedding anniversary dinner at The Mountain House with our children. What a truly memorable evening! From the food, the view of the forest, and most importantly the service, all were top notch! Really deserve a 5-star rating. No less.

From the moment we arrived the team and Chef Roberts made us feel so special. The food was a culinary explosion of taste and beauty. The service was spot on. It's nestled in the redwoods and absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for making my birthday so special. We will be back!

Overall, very disappointing. Quality ingredients. However, the food was so salty that it was nearly inedible. I could only finish half of entree and my wife left about 2/3rds of hers. Even the salad dressing was heavily salted. After dinner we were served tea in a pot of room temperature water so the tea did not steep, and the tea itself was a basic numi tea bag. This place just did not live up to expectations or the hype. No plans to return.

Had a good experience on a date night with the wife. Beautiful location in the redwoods and a great ambiance with the fire places and low hanging clouds. My only issue was value. I thought it was a bit over priced but that's the world we live in. What did surprise me was the mandatory 20% gratuity. We will definitely go back but for our budget this is a once a year treat.

This is our second visit. Both times we had the lovely Madison as our server. The staff are attentive and work together. Madison had good knowledge of the menu and could give us her insights. Several delicious sounding specials but it did not tempt us away from the menu offerings. The meal was well paced and each course delicious! Really appreciate such a wonderful experience where the diners are made to feel special because of the amuse bouche or the truffles at the end.

Fantastic experience! Tucked in the redwoods miles from the nearest town, you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet still in the heart of the Peninsula. The Michelin-cred chefs delivered a solid menu. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The soft-jazz ambience made for relaxing wine sipping and audible table conversations. A great fine-dining experience and escape from everyday life.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Mountain House. The ambiance was perfect. It was a cool evening and there were two wood-burning fireplaces in use. The lighting was soft and the wine was great. Ourfood was spectacular, especially the Diver Scallop dinner. Both my wife and I love scallops and have had the all over the country. These was the best ever! The appetizers and deserts were also fantastic. And we received a special additional desert in honor of our occasion. All the servers were friendly and attentive. For an extra special evening visit Mountain House!

Came for valentine's dinner!Overall the cooking here is quite good. The meats especially were superb. The filet minion, duck breast, grilled quail, and foie gras were all excellent. The dishes in general were well constructed with an interesting mix of ingredients complementing the centerpieces well. The trend in utilizing some more local variations on mainstays added unique flair to each one.Drinks were pretty strong and fairly creative. It is worth getting a cocktail or two.If we may offer a critique: we felt the dessert course was a little weak. The Panna Cotta was bit overpowered by the passion fruit jelly topping, and the Hazelnut Tart while good, was not really outstanding in any way.We do plan on visiting again, overall the meal was compelling, so I'm pretty excited to explore their day to day menu.Vegetarian options: Decent options for vegetarians, but most of the selection involves meat or fish.Parking: A parking lot exists, but it is not well paved as it fits within the trees. It can get full during busy hours, you may need to park along the highway

Mountain House is my new favourite restaurant in California! I absolutely loved the forest setting, elevated and charming cabin, cozy fireplaces and view of the trees from the Forest room. We visited for my birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make the occasion special. The food was delicious and the sizes generous. The service was incredible and the staff were very knowledgeable in their recommendations of wine. I would absolutely recommend Mountain House and am looking forward to visiting again.

Great food! Love the early dinner so we could enjoy a bit of a view of the redwoods. They had a fire going in the main dining area. They really dimmed the light once the sun sets. Loved the food.

Mountain House is a wonderful place. It's nestled in the redwoods and you feel like you've arrived at a secret hideaway where you can enjoy an outstanding meal while staying warm and feeling like you've escaped the world. The food was delicious, artful, carefully prepared, just wonderful in every way. Drinks were similarly great. Service also wonderful. My only concern is parking, but I think they're doing the best they can - and the difficulties of parking are the unavoidable biproduct of the wonderful nook of the forest which hugs the building. You must go here.

We had a lovely dining experience at the Mountain House. Even though we had a late reservation, the place was packed. The wait staff was attentive and front of the house filled in to make the whole experience run smoothly. The inventive and seasonal menu was delightful. The low lit dining room was accented by a cozy fireplace, tasteful antiques, and taxidermy adorning the walls. I would call it a destination restaurant not to be missed.

Loved it! The food was really really good and the ambiance was wonderful. Who doesn't love a wood-burning fireplace in the dining room? Nice wine list. Service had a few glitches but was friendly enough. We'll be going back for sure.
