By far one of the worse tasting experiences I have ever had. It was a rainy day and after finishing up our tasting at alpha mega we were referred to handwritten. We walked in and Amy was the most unwelcoming person I have ever encountered. We were with our 5 year old and although the place was completely empty we were told the only place we can sit was outside in the rain. “Every table inside was booked” But she would be more than happy to have the heater turned on if we decided to stay outside. I entertained the idea and she was bothered that I agreed to stay. My husband walked out. Another host felt so bad she offered to give us a bottle of wine on the house. I of course refused and we left. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Not only is the tasting room incredible, but the wine is even better! We also added the bread and butter experience, which was flavorful and enjoyable. We will certainly be visiting again.

This place is not to be missed! The Bread and Butter tasting was a fantastic experience. The personal attention to detail was above and beyond. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and Evan took the time to understand my tastes, and select samples that were to my liking.

One of the best tastings I’ve ever done in California. Each wine had something unique about it. I became a member and look forward to lots of lovely wines in my future.

The Bread and Butter Tasting Experience at Handwritten is one of a kind. The pairings are unique, delicious and thoughtful and the wines were exceptional. To be able to taste back vintages of their Pinot Noir and Cabernet was truly a delight - I did not know I would get to taste wines from 2011 when I booked the experience. I also really loved their Champagne and there are additional options for white wine drinkers, plus an array of reds that they can pull from. The hospitality was great too, Evan was attentive, knowledgeable, and funny! I brought my friends from LA here and they were super impressed. Definitely recommend this experience. Close to Ad Hoc, recommend them for dinner afterwards. Reservations in advance.

This doesn’t have the views offered by some of the other wineries but everything else is just perfect. Ask for V to be your host - she is incredible.

Wine was meh, spelled my name Tim, and we unfortunately had a 5th person who couldn't make it and this was the only winery after 3 full days of tasting that charged us for the individual who wasn't able to be there.

Handwritten leases properties across diff regions of Napa and makes delicious wine. Their tasting room is in downtown yountville with easier parking in the back for their customers. They provide custom menus for each tasting group personalized with visitors names and all wine poured to breath before guests arrive. Ive been a member for several years now and always appreciate their service, nice ambiance and variety of wine. All tastings also come with the amazing truffle chips from spain (complimentary) - it's one of my favorite chips. The bread and cheese tasting is an experience esp with the beautiful flower cheese they have. The butter is also quite rich and it's a treat for sure to taste three diff kinds of butter (2 cow, 1 sheep). My favorite wine from there is rutherford and howell mountain. Heard they will not be making rutherford any more but will come out with an oakville one next year. For fun, they also have two small tables at entrance where you can send a handwritten postcard to someone. It's cute service. The hosts are all well versed in wine and they sometimes do special pours not on tasting menu, so u maybe able to try a splash of something before you buy. This time we went up, we tried the champagne, the author (sauvignon blanc), a pinot, two cabs. They also poured the 2011 stag's leap and 2010 napa for us to try after. Enjoyed it and got the napa - aged already by them and ready to drink for me.
