Delicious food, and the staff were so kind and helpful! I highly recommend the tabaldi drink and, if you can eat peanuts and like your food with a nice, balanced spicy kick, the chicken agashi was wonderful!

Absolutely delicious!!! Do not hesitate to get a meal here! The liver…. I’m not a liver person but it was so delicious!

First time trying Sudanese food and I had a terrific experience. The kind woman at the counter helped me choose a dish, the lamb, which ended up being delicious. The lamb was served over rice which had tons of flavor and made me want more. I also ordered Sudanese baklava and it was delicate and sweet. She also threw in a free hibiscus drink that was a pleasant surprise. I cannot wait to go back and try more.

I absolutely love this place. It’s a hidden gem. The food is amazing! Flavorful Sudanese dishes cooked to order, and served by the super friendly proprietors.

Super friendly women working the counter and some of the best lamb I’ve ever had. Will be back to try the other Sudanese offerings.

On my way to Denver from the airport, I stopped by Mango House (an awesome place in and of itself with multiple unique cuisines offered - check out the origin story and art on the walls!) because I was craving Burmese food. However, having never tried Sudanese before, and with the lure of their especially intriguing menu, I made the best food decision of my week-long Colorado trip. The lady who helped me decide on what to get was incredibly friendly and kind, helpfully accommodating my need to try multiple dishes by allowing me to make a half-order of the liver dish. I'm always wary of liver being overcooked and bitter, but this dish was umami and tender, perfect with the fluffy complementary bread. I also ordered the lamb rice dish, deliciously spiced, which paired beautifully with the dakoa salad (I love peanuts, and this was covered in a lovely creamy peanut sauce that wasn't too sweet). Dabbing a bit of the spicy sauce that accompanied our food onto every spoonful or chunk of bread was the cherry on top. Having never seen baobab drink on any menu, I also had to try it. Upon one sip, my partner went to order a second. It has a uniquely fruity taste with a bit of graininess reminiscent of guava, and was a refreshing balance to the spiciness. Try it!! Additionally, I was allowed the choice of a complementary drink or helping of Sudanese baklava since I had ordered over $30, so I chose to try out the baklava. It was fragrantly peanut-based and not too sweet (a gripe I often have with tooth-achingly sweet Mediterranean varieties). I was so full at the end of the meal that I had to refrigerate it to eat the next day, and it was still wonderfully crispy. I still think about it every few days. Since this first meal in Colorado was so mouth-watering and easily the best meal I had the entire week, I had to return on the drive back to the airport at the end of the trip. This time, I knew I wanted to try the fatta fool and fatta adass. The concept of chunks of bread mixed into cooked legumes was very novel to me, and incredibly the bread soaked up the lovely flavor and juices of the legumes while staying fluffy on the inside. Both were delicious, especially with the spicy sauce, and the meal was rounded out with bakomba (a hot rice pudding-like dessert made with grain wheat, with flavorful and nicely textured raisins, topped with shredded coconut). The custard flavor seemed to be vanilla with a hint of banana, and while I am normally wary of banana flavored desserts, this dessert was incredible and on par with the double helping of Sudanese baklava I ordered to-go to bring home with me. Finally, of course I had to order the baobab drink again which was just as wonderful as the first time around, and I also tried the mango drink which had an amazing mango fragrance, more similar to Philippine mangos than the classic varieties. I can't wait for my next trip to Colorado, as I know I will be visiting Rocky Mountain Sudanese Restaurant again and again!

Good Sudanese food. The mango drink was very fresh. The falafel donuts were the most moist I have ever eaten. The ambience is not the best however.

This place was wonderful. We had a chicken rice plate, liver rice plate, mango drinks, baklava, and cookies. It was all great, but the liver was the best surprise. Liver is one of the few foods I can barely stand to eat…but the owner brought some out for me to try and it ended up being my favorite dish in the place…and we ordered something from all the great establishments at Mango House.

They were so nice they gave us two Bakomba desserts the custard and topped with coconut was delicious! My wife had the Fata Fool and I had the Rice Dish with fried lamb! I cannot describe how delicious all the above mentioned dishes were! The lamb was soft and the yellow rice was beautifully rich and the Fata Fool bread was soaked to perfection and the Feta cheese was wonderful! God bless you guys for your kindness and generosity! I give Rocky Mountain Sudanese give stars

I’m Sudanese and my immediate family lives in Texas. I was feeling homesick and missing my mother’s cooking. I googled “Sudanese food” and luckily, Rocky Mountain Sudanese Restaurant popped up. I live across town in Lakewood, and made a 40 minute drive to come eat here and it was worth every minute. The food was delicious and authentic, the mango juice reminded me of my childhood, and the baklava was fantastic! If you haven’t tried Sudanese food before, give this place a try. I’ll definitely be back!
