“Ambience, service and quality of food all checked out! Inside this chic food hall/court a few blocks away from the main Pearl Street shopping mall exists this a dessert shop that serves the most airy/light glazed mini doughnuts. I, of course, got me one and devoured in a matter of minutes. Other stuff on the menu looked and sounded great, too (Japanese Cheese Cake was one of them.) While I was eating my doughnut, a female staff came to me and asked if I wanted anything to drink (from the bar for alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage.) I said no but she pointed to the self-service water fountain where there are clean side plates you can grab should you need one for your meal. While I was there, I checked other vendors (they have Italian, Thai to name a few.) Well, let's go back to the dessert shop. The guy behind the counter was extremely helpful. He welcomed me with a nice smile. My doughnut came out warm with freshly glazed semisweet citrusy cream on top. Like I said, so airy to a point where you would feel like going for a second one. So if you are looking for something super light especially after a meal, I recommend you go with this one.“

“I come to this shop every other Monday like clockwork as a little treat to myself. I don't skip them except for when I am on vacation, or presumably when I will have someday perished.Even then, my spirit will still come to Lamar's in Louisville.To preface my food pickiness: I lived in Chicago for three years, I've been to one of Alton Brown's famous recommended donut shops, I've tried Voodoo Donuts, all of them fine, but let me say I have never in my life had a donut that has EVER compared to what's going on at Lamar's.Like, if you asked me to describe the perfect donut for the most exquisite gooey dough texture, frosting, flavor, and sheer variety, I would wordlessly point to this store every single time.I would commit heinous crimes for their blueberry filled bizmarks ALONE.Y'all are the best. Special praise in particular to the Hispanic gentleman always working the Monday counter when I'm in; I don't think I've ever seen him have a bad day, as he's always happily laughing and joking around with customers.
