I am over the moon! Finally!!! An incredible Mexican restaurant in Boulder. Being born and raised in Mexico, I often crave and miss the artisan, masterpieces that is the authentic taste of Mexico, and Masa y Agave hit it out of the ballpark. Their moles are exquisite, their masas are PERFECT. And their homemade ice cream is probably the best treat I've had in ages. Everything is seasoned just right. I am so impressed and so grateful to have cuisine like this in Boulder.

Three of us stopped in for dinner after hearing rave reviews and seeing some of their social media posts. We usually are skeptical of trendy new restaurants in Boulder since so many are heavy on style yet lacking in substance and quality, especially for the higher prices so common to this town. All three of us agree that Masas was legit good - great food, great service, and nice ambience. While none of the three salsas were favorites of ours, they were clearly all prepared with good ingredients and with an expert hand. The chips were also surprisingly very good - delicate yet hearty enough to be excellent salsa delivery vehicles and still tasty on their own. The tuna aguachile appetizer was fresh, but pretty small and surprisingly not very tasty at all. The pibil croquetas were awesome - perfectly prepared and presented. The buffalo short rib needed 20 more seconds of sear to be perfect but was close enough for my dining companion. She absolutely loved the entire dish. My only complaint with my pollo rostisado is that I wanted more! It was so delicious and very artfully prepared and presented. I will return soon just for this dish alone. I’ll also say that our drinks were very tasty, though the agave spirits selection is actually pretty weak for a place that advertises that aspect so heavily. I hope they’ll expand into some truly premium tequilas and mezcals and not so many that are just well-known but mediocre. All in all, we all agreed that this place is one of the best new venues for downtown dining in Boulder - excellent food, great service, neat ambience, and fair prices for the overall quality and experience. We will be back very soon!

This was my third time to Masas and I keep hoping it's going to get better! But it keeps disappointing. It's such a lovely cool atmosphere, but the food needs attention. We had to send the scallops back, and the tuna in our appetizer was not good. The service was also underwhelming.Great drinks. Please work on the quality of food - I really want this place to get better.

Just ok. Sat at the bar for 10 minutes before being helped. Once helped the bartender was super nice but very slow. My cocktail showed up only 3/4 full, with a full glass of ice it felt like I barely got a drink. Steak tacos were average- well cooked but not much flavor. Wife got the carnitas which were much better than the tacos. The churros for dessert were good. Overall I’d expect better for the price, and there are far better options in the pearl st area.

I've been here twice now and absolutely loved it. I sat at the chefs table. It was fun to watch the different entrees get prepared, as it helped guided my decisions. The shrimp appetizer blew me away, so good! I grew up in Massachusetts's, to see six jumbo shrimp at very reasonable price made me very happy. Fresh and satisfying. The drinks and service were great too.

Easiest 5 stars I have ever given to a restaurant. To start, the ambiance was unmatched. The decor and comfortable seating made for an incredible dining experience. Additionally the service was wonderful and we were given amazing recommendations. The food was hands down some of the best I've ever had. I got the Oaxaca Bowl with skirt steak and cleaned my plate! It was the perfect combination of flavors and nothing like I'd ever had before. I also had the Masas Margarita and the presentation was unmatched. Overall a fantastic experience and I will definitely be returning. Keep up the great work!

Wonderful Oaxacan food! Mexico is a geographically diverse country with several distinct cultural and culinary traditions, and Masas Boulder does the best Oaxacan food in the front range in my humble opinion. Manuel the restaurant manager and his staff are very attentive and knowledgeable of Oaxacan food and culture. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. We went on a night with 6 inches of snow outside. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived, but slowly filled as the night went on. We started with the tuna appetizer. It was so fresh and full of citrus. It had loads of flavor and was excellent. I then had the Quesabirria Tacos and they were great. Again, they had loads of flavors, were the correct portion size and were delectable. We finished up with fresh churros. These came straight from the fryer, to the cinnamon sugar mix to our table. The dips are great and the fresh churro was a perfect end to the night. I almost forgot. We had 3 different cocktails. They were interesting, flavorful and beautifully presented. Our waitress was also the perfect amount of attentive. We will be back to this higher end Mexican restaurant.
