The best pizza experience I’ve had since we returned from living two years in Italy. The quality of the ingredients was excellent and the pizza maker knows how to properly fire a napoletana pizza crust. The Vesuvius was a neat double decker pizza option with a charcoal crust and pesto and the top layer with a typical red sauce and toppings. It’s made to look like the volcano erupting. Neat idea. It was definitely an explosion of flavors in the mouth. The antipasto of burrata was so wonderfully cold and creamy against the texture and warmth of the well seasoned crostini. Recommend!!!

Jim and Debbie are top notch hosts. Their Ceasar salad is on point with fresh homemade Ceasar dressing and the most AMAZING bite sized croutons. The charcoal crust pizza is delicious. Menu is full of all options. Special family feel of this Colorado Springs eatery.

After returning from Italy I was told to hit Basil & Barley because it was “authentic Italian.” It too me four years but I finally made it. All I have to say is THAT WAS A WASTED FOUR YEARS! Hands down the most authentic Italian I’ve had stateside!! Do yourself a favor… GO!!

Very disappointing! My husband barely had any toppings on his pizza, very little sauce too. It was dry and lacking in flavor overall. The other two pizzas had whole olives and whole grape tomatoes. Why wouldn't these be cut? They just fell off the pizza when we tried to eat a slice. Oh and none of the 3 pizzas ordered for takeout were sliced! Overpriced, lazily made, blah tasting pizzas...

We've been here a few times now. Personally we love the friendly service, we even got to meet the owner last time, and as it turns out two of his children work there as well! We love supporting family businesses as entrepreneurs ourselves! The pizza is wood fired, delicious! I suggest trying their charcoal pizza dough! It leaves you feeling full but not bloated. The kids meals are an amazing deal, the kids pizza is almost the same size as the adults! The kids pasta has green seasoning on it, and parmesan sprinkles, so I highly recommend skipping it for picky eaters. I highly recommend you check this place out!Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free options!Kid-friendliness: This is a smaller place but very kid friendly. The staff knows how to please the little ones. They get drinks out fast and kids food comes first.

We’re born & raised in Italy and this is by far the best traditional Neapolitan Pizza we’ve had in Colorado, and one of the best we’ve had in the US. Their ingredients are top quality, and very tasteful. We love the Sottobosco (for the records, the menu specifies it has squash base not tomato sauce, and tomato confit are the herb marinated tomatoes, not the orange sauce, that’s the squash base, LOL) and we love the char (“burnt”), which is a signature element of Neapolitan Pizza. For the ones leaving bad reviews, if you prefer a different style of pizza that’s ok, just don’t write bad/offensive reviews for something that you’re not familiar with and can’t appreciate!
