Such a sad moment to have to write this review and not get to enjoy at least one more Tamale, taco, burrito or guacamole before you guys close. Man when I lived in Colorado Springs this was one of my places to go when I had Mexican food on the brain. They were always so sweet and the food was delicious! Now as a pescatarian I can't eat the meat options but let me tell you I have had them several times before and they were delicious! They had so much to offer! Burritos, tamales, tacos, guacamole, Spanish rice and more. Ahh so good! I remember the times when we had our party nights and we would order quarts of items such as rice and guacamole!! Miss those times and will miss your family! Even the Colorado Springs Newspaper agreed! - "The Taco King has reigned supreme downtown since 1976, under the great care of the Aguilar family. It's often tough to find a seat in the small eatery during lunch hours, a testament to how great the Mexican standards are here. The avocado pork burrito wins the most awards, but you truly won't go wrong with anything on the menu." - Colorado Springs Independent All in all this quaint Resturant was amazing and so sad to see them go!

I was told this was authentic, maybe it is but it's wasn't very good. Great rice and beans but the actual tacos and burrito were so liquidy, kinda gross. Small seating area, right on the street so car exhaust smells were incredibly distracting.

I used to live in the Springs and a friend recommended El Taco Rey for lunch one day. I went back almost every day until I moved. Unfortunately, I haven't been back to the area since then, but I tell every one, who I hear about going to the Springs, to try El Taco Rey. I can still taste the deluxe enchilada!

You always get your food hot . And the prices are reasonable.!!! I highly recommend this place to get the food and take your family and friends !! The food is made with love !! So are the tamales !!! The tamales are also the bomb you have to order them a day in advance but worth it !!
