I've visited this location of Hacienda Colorado approximately 4 times over the last 11 years. Each time is a sub par experience with several years between each visit. Most recently, we decided to give it another try last week. When we walked in a few minutes before our reservation, there was an overwhelming smell of bleach or cleaner (maybe ammonia), which was an immediate strike as we all commented on this. The smell permeated into the dining area where we were seated. The service was incredibly slow considering the number of people working and the abundance of empty tables. We ordered drinks and then dinner and received our drinks promptly but waited over an hour for our dinners. The food was all bland and disappointing. Two people at the table ordered fajitas and they came out cold (we all expected sizzling). There are too many amazing Mexican and Southwestern restaurants in the Denver area to waste time and money at this one.

Okay I am giving three stars because I used to love this place. But here goes, I will try to review it based on my prior and current experiences. Typically I go there after work or if a friend is in town visiting, I recommend this place for good Mexican food. Anyway, during the week, we always get the same waiter. He only works Monday through Thursday. Whenever we have another waiter it is usually not the same experience. Which I think when you have a benchmark of good, nothing usually compares. However, they are always friendly. Yesterday, I went in and the host was asking table or high top. We said whatever and he was like no choose. Okay high top. We go to the seat yourself bar area and greeted by a waitress. We order our drinks and a chips, salsa, queso. Cool. Then when ready to order, I am giving the bewildered look around catching the eye of the servers to order. No one responds. Our waitress literally walks by our table but doesn't stop to check or ask if we need anything. I am getting hungry, so I finally go up and ask if someone could send our waitress over. That person has to get another person, who eventually sends our server over. Now onto the food. The important thing to know is they have changed the recipes. It is a mistake. The drinks were terrible and I hated my drink. The flavor didn't blend and it was off. The salsa went from being cantina liquid more to something that looked like a sauce. The smoked green was good though. The queso is different now too. It was just horrible. When I ordered I wanted a specific item that used to be an app but was not under meal. She asked if I wanted the app or meal. I told her I didn't see it as an app any longer and she said it was. When the food came out, it was a meal and did not resemble the shrimp jalapeño app that I remember. I was just so irritated, I wanted the whole experience to be over. But I thought I would get there to die for chocolate cake and it would salvage it all. Guess what? They no longer have the cake. I hated this place. I hated that I took a special trip to come out of my way to go here. I hope they turn it around again, because I do not want my office to drag me here for a substandard happy hour.

We had a wonderful experience at Hacienda tonight! We had a party of 12, and Dominic did an amazing job taking care of us. My ground beef changa was perfect, as usual. I learned something new: Haci has a chocolate piñata! We were having a celebration, so we ordered the piñata and we hit it with a bat! It was such a fun experience! Haci will always be one of my favorite spots.Kid-friendliness: We had two kids in our party and both were very pleased with their meals and the experience!

Went for a lunch date. Service was wonderful and friendly. The food was delightful especially their queso Blanco. The rice was a little al dente not really something I appreciate from rice.

I can specifically for the Queso Blanco- the white creamy dip is much better than any 'yellow' queso served. The chips were fresh with my queso and the Blood Orange Margarita was perfect! Andrew was my server even with a large 10 top seated in his area he made sure I was seen and had what I needed. It is a quieter place to eat with lots of seating. I had my book to read while I enjoyed a leisure meal. I ordered the Quesadilla Birrira from the appetizer as my meal- there were 4 of them on the plate. The flavor was spot on!

This place has really gone downhill. First, it was an inconvenience that we showed up an hour before closing, then our server was too busy trying to get other people out of there to get to us, once they did, our food was rushed out(cold), and then we had to try and eat while they are pushing people out the door so they can go home, even though they were still technically open for 30 minutes at this point. If you don't want customers, then don't let them in the door. Used to be one of my favorite spots.

Wonderful experience at Hacienda Colorado. Went in Monday night and they were able to seat us at a high top near the bar right away. Our server was very outgoing and fun. The food came out quickly, and the shrimp tacos were excellent. Generous portions, flavorful and fresh.

The steak and chicken fajitas were not what I had hoped for. They could have been more flavorful. No beans, rice, pico, not even lettuce. Steak was a bit chewy. The others in my party loved their dishes.Vegetarian options: There were vegan options.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible parking, entrance, tables and restrooms.

This restaurant shows up on lists of gluten-free restaurants but they DO NOT offer any gluten free options. They have a "gluten sensitive" menu but the manager confirmed that the restaurant does not have any dedicated fryers or cooking surfaces. If you have Celiac, you can remove this place from your list of options.
