High Lonesome is as close as you can get to the textbook definition of a neighborhood bar. I like the name, I dig the vibes, and it's one of those places that can appease any type of bar rat. Located in the Highlands on Navajo, set foot in a laid back and casual atmosphere. It's divey, has a pool table and a jukebox. You're here for a good time, so drink up. Cheap beers in bottles and a really nice selection of whiskies. The fact you have the option to order a made to order, hand crafted cocktail or a cheap beer resonates with me. My only qualm with this place is that is usually takes me a million years to get a drink. I've been here half a dozen times and I don't know if it's just bad luck on my end, but I've had to wait at the bar for a long time. The bartenders work hard and sometimes are dealing with rowdy patrons, I've just been skipped a handful of times. Won't stop me from coming back, just my experience! For cocktails, you can't go wrong with their house old fashioned or negroni. Or even their Japanese whiskey highballs. They do have a rotating selection of house cocktails too that I've had previously and enjoyed. For beers, I love that they have Coors Banquet, Hamms, Lone Star and Miller High Life for $4. They also boast some great local ales for only a few bucks more. Great neighborhood bar. Should be in the rotation more often. Bring your crew and saddle up for a fun night at High Lonesome.

Worst espresso martini I've ever had. The bartender was behind the bar taking shots while I waited there for over 5 minutes to get served. Espresso martinis are suppose to have foam and espresso beans. Not garnished with a orange slice that looks like this for $13. Ambiance was nice but had a weird smell

Too many rules over there. This place has changed for sure. Got accused of being a cop by a bartender woman wearing a leatherman. She is probably a fed. They get mad about most things now. Will never go back.

I recently visited there. I am a black woman & I was with a few of my colleagues that I work with after the Denver broncos game. We were visiting Denver for the week.We were asked to see our ID’s then said that we were told to go to the bar to order drinks. My colleague went to order us drinks and was told by the bartender that he needed to see our ID’s again. My colleague grabbed our ID’s then we had to wave to the bartender to validate it was us. The bartender made us show our ID’s again because the drinks that we ordered were “only ordered by underage people”.I was only female black person at the bar and I felt discriminated against. I felt singled out. I will not be returning after this encounter.
Cool spot! I love how this bar is just outside the madness of the LoHi scene which gives it a way more relaxed and casual vibe. The cocktails are great and boozy, the staff is chill and knowledgeable, and the decor is super casual and cool. Not a huge spot inside, but enough room for varied seating and a pool table. If you're a whiskey fan, they have you covered. If you're not, well, they have you covered too!
