The one thing that made this a Wisconsin bar (other than the Wisconsin sports teams decor) was the walleye fish fry. And they stopped serving it - fish fry is now cod which you get anywhere. (The online menu still says walleye). The menu is like any other pub grub place - you can get cheese curds anywhere. And you can get a brandy old fashioned anywhere. So I ordered a brat which was not good, the bun was so toasted it crumbled into bits, who toasts a brat bun on the outside? I'm from WI and know my brats. Service was terrible - no check in after food delivered, server walked by my empty beer glass multiple times and never asked if I wanted a refill. It cost us over $80 bucks for lunch! I sent an email to the AGM Ms. Gutierrez with no reply. So after coming here for years we won't be back.

I'm just here for the cheese curds. If you haven't had deep fried cheese curds, you haven't lived. This is a little slice of Northern Wisconsin in downtown Denver.

Overall, I really liked this place. The drinks were good and the prices were fair. My only complaint would be the food. We ordered cheese curds and they came out almost instantly and they were room temperature. I’m not sure if it’s a popular item so they pre-cook them or if someone cancelled their order but it was disappointing.

Wally’s has potential. It’s a cute bar with great atmosphere celebrating all things Wisconsin. The menu is very typical of any American bar. Nothing wild. There’s potential here to expand it instead of doing mostly what every American bar and grill does with their menu. The real problem is the service. We stopped in on a Saturday in January for some lunch. We waited at the bar for 10 fullMinutes before the bartender, who had looked at us multiple times, even acknowledged we were there. No smile. No “how ya doing?” Just “are you ready to order?” We ordered and I got my beer but my husband waited a long time for his Sprite. There was no check-in by staff to see if we needed anything. The whole experience was a bit lackluster and the atmosphere could not make up for the lack of service. We probably won’t be back. There are similar places to visit where they are happy to have your money. Wally’s doesn’t seem to be one of them.
Our server in the bar, guy with dreads, would take the longest time to come back, messed up my drink order twice, told me they didn’t have things and then the things i originally asked for came out with my food, and when my partner asked how to make his drink a double because it was a “premixed drink” there was no way to do it, without offering the opportunity to just buy an additional shot for his drink. We were from out of town and the experience was subpar.

Been here twice so far and loved both times! I recommend the poutine and a game of jenga.
Great wings. Cheese curds are fresh fried. Cool staff. Great place to hit before a nuggets game.
