It was a fun place to eat, and the weather was great! Most everything I ate was fabulous, but. I didn't love their gravy! It had a vinegary taste. I think there was pickled something in it! I will go back though!Parking: It's on Tennyson, so it's hit or miss with parking spots!

It's backwards day at Wendell's - instead of being waited on, you do the waiting. It's not that the service is bad, which it is, but that they just don't care about your time.I've tried a couple times now and was hoping they'd eventually figure it out, but they haven't.First time we came here it was awful. 30 minutes to get water, another 45 for food and it wasn't even a busy day. Eggs were undercooked and waffle was raw.Same result today: empty restaurant, yet no one can be bothered to pay attention to you, instead they're just chumming it up with their friends or re-cleaning already clean and set tables. We got coffees quick but then waited 30 minutes (no exaggeration!) before I had to flag the server down and ask to close out - no one had taken our order and I wasn't about to sit there another 45 minutes to find out if the food was going to be better than the service. She was flabbergasted and upset, three times telling me I should've said something. Maybe. But it's also not my job to tell you to check in on your tables. Most places would've comped the coffee or done something to give you a reason to come back. Here they just blame you for not wanting bad service. Again, backwards day here. There are too many other good places in the neighborhood for that kind of attitude and if that's the approach to service....maybe try something else? It's a shame, because the OG Wendell's was pretty good.

Great customer service, good food, lattes and lots of drink choices. I recommend the belgian waffle and don't recommend the avocado toast, it wasn't fresh tasting and the color was almost brown, the picture gives it too much justice.
Service here was amazing from the second we walked in the door. That being said, the food was a little lackluster. We had a cinnamon roll (great), avocado toast (pitiful), chicken and waffles (good) and the poutine (uneventful). Everything was lacking seasoning, especially the poutine.Love what they’re doing with local ingredients but lacking in flavor.Good drinks!

I am so over trying this place again and again only to be disappointed every time. It used to be good. It used to be GREAT. But they have just not managed to figure out their staffing issues over the past couple of years and after literally giving them 5 or 6 chances, I always leave feeling incredibly frustrated.Firstly, don’t go here if you’re hungry. Be prepared to wait for everything. For a long time. Longer than they will tell you. Even if the restaurant is only half full and there are open tables everywhere, you will wait. And don’t try to sit at open spots at the bar because they won’t let you sit there either. Then be prepared to wait again, for a ridiculously long time, for your food. And don’t expect anyone to be very nice or apologetic about how long everything takes. The food is good but it’s not that good. Don’t waste your time.

I stopped in here randomly on Black Friday during a snowstorm. The cafe is adorable, the music is perfect, and the atmosphere was top notch. The owner Casey made the best breakfast beverages, suggested the DELICIOUS Cajun Collared Greens Benedict and was incredibly welcoming in conversation. If you’re looking for a family owned restaurant with an awesome vibe and great food, GO HERE.
