The ambiance at Diamond Belle Saloon is great. The piano player is just fantastic and the interior is a must see.We wanted to have dinner. The wait staff ignored our party and the elder party waiting behind us, who ended up leaving as they said the couldn't stand very long. Wait staff glanced over a few times and didn't even mention that it's a seat yourself situation. After 5 minutes, we wandered over to the bar, where a customer said "Just sit wherever you can."So we looked around and saw that most tables were occupied, which I understand will happen on a Saturday night. However, there were a few tables where it looked like people were done with their drinks and were just sitting there enjoying the music and occupying tables. We waited 10 minutes more hoping that maybe their tables would be cleared, so that we could then sit and enjoy a meal. Not so. The wait staff didn't seem to care and it didn't seem like there was a time limit for table turnover. Pretty disappointing for a restaurant at such a famous establishment. There should probably be a hostess on busy nights as it seemed chaotic and unwelcoming when we visited.

This is honestly a spot that everyone should stop and check out for its history, but only when it's lively and when the piano player is there, otherwise go elsewhere if you are hungry and want quality food. I've been here 3 times now, almost 3 years apart and I did not like the quality of the food for the price we paid. This last visit, we walked in and the place was dead. Bartender acted like he wanted to go home and sleep! Drinks were horrible and I remembered my food experience from last time so I declined eating here, save your money. Place is pricey on both food and drinks compared to other spots, but cool to check it out for the history and old-time western vibes. History/Western fans, wander next door to the Strater Hotel and take a look at all the neat stuff! This is one of the most famous and original piano bars from the Old West and the waitresses are costumed to fit! So for sure come and at least hang out, maybe get a drink and stay for a few songs from the pianoman, but try the food at your own risk.

Awesome experience! Definitely going to visit here every time I go to Durango CO. Jeff Racheff was the live performance on the night I visited and was a lot of fun and really engaged the audience. Lots of fun anyways lol. Can’t say it enough, great experience!
Stayed at Strater and went for dinner first night. Piano music was great and entertaining. Food was okay but highly priced for what you get. Drinks took forever to get served. Overall atmosphere was nice and it was full. Waitress was nice and busy, I just didn’t like waiting 30 min for a drink.

We always enjoy our times at the Diamond Belle Saloon, but they were nice enough to allow my fiancé and I in before they opened on a Saturday to take our engagement pictures. I was blown away at how accommodating the entire staff of the saloon, and the Strater, was to us. They were working hard to get everything ready for the day, but were willing to pause for a few minutes while we took pictures all around the bar, offering props, picture advice, and kind comments to my beautiful fiancé and I as we posed. I was already a huge fan of the Diamond Belle/Strater Hotel, but they went above and beyond for two strangers from Texas in making our vision for our engagement pictures a reality, when they just as easily could have said "Nope, we're not open, come back later." Thank you all so much, I can't wait to be back in Durango having drinks at the Belle again as soon as possible!
