We came here for my birthday because the menu looked good. And Durango isn't exactly known for good restaurants.I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but overall, I wasn't thrilled.Upon entrance, the place seemed nice. Lights were low. So low actually, I had to break out my phone to illuminate the menu. 636 was a quaint place, but the atmosphere was odd with a rowdy bar only 8' away.Service was terrific. Our waitress was friendly. However, when your entree comes out while you're still enjoying the appetizers, it doesn't exactly leave a good impression. My steak was parked at the edge of the table while we were finishing the calamari.Food: the calamari was mostly slaw. It seemed like a lot of food, but the plate was mostly slaw. The calamari was good and while the slaw was odd at first, it did taste good.I ordered the blackened ribeye. I had immediate problems with my dish from the get-go. The steak, while cooked to a good medium rare, sat on a bed of sauce with an afro of onion straws. Was I eating at Applebee's??If I didn't know any better, I would have never known I ordered a blackened steak. It was hard to taste the steak when every bite included the sauce. And the asparagus was lumped on the plate like an after thought; in fact, there were no tips, only stems. Again, I wasn't impressed. It was a lackluster birthday dinner. And I more than likely, won't be back.

American fusion bistro! I got a great slab of perfectly done prime rib for an amazing price. My wife ordered salmon baked on a cedar slab. Both were excellent. We started off with a lemon/tropical chello(sp?)served in a sugar-rimmed martini glass.Appetizers, a beef lettuce wraps with fried rice noodles and red head chicken wings with gorgonzola dressing.A glass of white wine, and creme brulee with coffee to finish up.Excellent service and food!

Lovely welcoming w/our table decorated for a bday evening! Our server was Justin and was fabulous. Great suggestions for the menu. Had a bottle of wine w/dinner. Being a pescatarian, I had the Curry w/Shrimp; AMAZING! Hubby had the ribeye. Very tasty and cooked to perfection for his liking. Had the ice cream w/liquor to split the dessert. Great evening and very memorable.

The food was only outshined by the service tonight. Both were brag-worthy. My opinion: best in Durango. We had salad to start, the grouper, the filet, the strip and soup. All perfectly cooked as requested. Served with terrific attention and professionalism. Thanks Justin! Love this restaurant. We will be back.

Asked several locals about where they recommend for a good dinner in Durango. The common recommendation was 636. Place stays busy so made a reservation with open table. Needless to say this place did not disappoint. I had the egg rolls and Caesar salad for appetizers. Both were good but if you are a steak lover then the blackened ribeye is the go too. I’ve been to a lot places and can honestly say this is one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. It was cooked perfectly inside and had a good charred surface. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Durango. Every meal I seen that came by looked very good as well. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. Definitely will be back on our next visit.

The food was outstanding and they had an excellent selection of wines to pair with it. The dining room was very inviting and was quiet enough to easily carry on a conversation. Wait staff was excellent, despite the restaurant being busy. We'll definitely be back and recommend it to our friends and family.

This was some of the best food I've had in awhile. Everything at the table was good. The small plates were quite large, easily enough to have a nice dinner with one or two plates. The side salads similarly were entree sized. Overall, an amazing dinner. The wine list is extensive and delicious.Parking: Parking is tough during dinner time. There was few spots of street parking available. We ended up in a small lot a block away.

Filet Mignon is best in town. Been here a few times and enjoyed my meal every time. I really love sitting outside in the back whether it's summer or winter. They have heaters keeping it toasty and shade in the summer keeping it cool.

I have been here many times and the food never disappoints. But what made this past visit exceptional, was when the manager Karissa-dug through the bathroom trash to find my wedding ring that had fallen off while drying my hands. I can never thank her enough for that act of kindness. If you want above and beyond service, you will find it here. Thank you, Karissa! ?

Does your chef have a vendetta against edible food. You know you can make food without the pound of salt for every dish.

Our go-to special occasion place did not disappoint! High quality food, beverages, and staff. It's pretty cozy, so noise levels are higher than I would prefer, certainly not within the control of the staff, and if that's my only criticism, that's a win. It's rare in this area to enjoy fish that's been cooked so wonderfully, and beef that melts in your mouth. Highly recommend reservations, and probably leave the little ones at home. To me it's an adult menu for discriminating tastes. The staff hustles and appear to actually LIKE working there. Thanks 636!

I visited this restaurant with my parents and enjoyed such excellent food and service! Mashed sweet potatoes were very flavorful, the filet mignon was probably the most tender piece of meat I’ve ever had, and our server Caroline was very friendly and gave us an excellent wine recommendation! Five
