Lovely birthday dinner with gorgeous views no matter where you sit (cliffs on one side, mountains on the other). Definitely make reservations for dinner.A very special dinner, the rolls were ? and we savored every moment of our steaks. The veggies were also colorful and delightful, and different than we’ve had before at steakhouses. The lodge the restaurant housed in is so fun, too. Apparently the burger is the best around… will have to go back sometime.

The food, ambiance and location were wonderful. The only negative was our waitress going completely MIA after delivering our salads and then she didn't return to take our entree order for another 45 minutes.

Have been to Sow's Ear numerous times and am never disappointed. Staff are friendly and food is superb. Atmosphere is also very warm and inviting. Beautiful views of the mountains through the oversized windows of the alpine style building. Also a very nice selection of wines.

Ending a 5 week road trip through Colorado. Hadn't eaten out once. This place was in the complex we were staying in and was recommended by out airbnb host. Checked out the menu and it looked really interesting so made a reservation. We were able to walk over from our place. Arrived, greeted and seated. Pleased that all the staff were wearing masks. Ordered some drinks and looked at the menu. Started with the vegetable tempura and the tuna poke, both incredible. Our service was really great too. I think the server's name was Craig? Anyway, had mains of the salmon and the petite tenderloin. Everything was cooked absolutely perfectly. There were also some delicious rolls served. We were way too full to have dessert although the list was tempting. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fine dining experience, i.e., it's not inexpensive but worth the splurge for such a high quality of food and service.

Fantastic views and ambiance. Food and service were great. We had the elk tenderloin and the quail entrees. Both perfectly cooked and such great flavors. The service was great. One of our favorite places in the Durango area.

We ate here as our last dinner before we went back home. What a great spot! Very old style charm with some amazing food. Great selection on the menu made it hard to choose. We all got something different and shared our portions and it was the best restaurant cooked meal I've had in quite some time(sorry nothing beats home cooked meals!). We would definitely go again. Great service, great food, awesome experience.

Wow, the food was fabulous! We had a party of 6 for our family meal and ordered dinner and desserts. I had the crab pasta special which was phenomenal. My husband loved the ribeye. Our kids ordered the filet mignon, Mac and cheese, elk tenderloin, and chicken fingers. Nothing was left-all was so delicious. Desserts were Apple strudel and chocolate mousse. Amazing! They are also the only restaurant to serve Animas brewing as well. So they told us anyway. Its. A beautiful restaurant and it absolutely stormed while we were there which was really nice!! The service was a bit slow and a bit forgetful at times, but overall we highly recommend this lovely spot.

Would have rated higher except for very slow service, especially at end of meal. We ate here 3 nights earlier and had good service. Good at the lower level; bad at the upper level.

Such a great find in a very small town outside of Durango. Wonderful food and great service. A little on the pricey side but it's well worth every penny. Very extensive selection on the menu as well.

I've eaten at some of the top restaurants across the country and I believe that Sow's Ear is at the top of the list. The menu is diverse and the chef does an outstanding job of creating the dishes. In addition, the service is great and everyone wants to make sure your dinner experience is the best. Can't say enough wonderful things about Sow's Ear.

Very good place up by Purgatory. Menu has a lot of great choices Service was a bit slow, but fine. I just wish they had more local ingredients.

The setting and ambiance at Sow's Ear is wonderful. Looking through the huge windows to the woods and mountains from our table in the dining room was so pleasant and peaceful. There is outdoor dining also that looked inviting. Our appetizers of Fried Shrimp in Romesco sauce was so-so, with the shrimp overcooked. The entrees of Elk tenderloins were delicious, served with a potato mash and an asparagus side. We had dessert, an apple strudel that had tough puff pastry but the ice cream was very good. The Sow's Ear is a lovely spot to get away from the hub-bub of Durango.
