Mountain Merman Brewing Company Brewery • $
220 S Main St, La Veta

“Since the day they opened in LaVeta they have been a wonderful edition to the LaVeta life. Pleasant and attentive to what may be your personal taste among their numerous draught products, by questions to your preferences and samples of what sounds interesting to you. You may come for a beer.. but you will stay and return just to be part of the atmosphere of Friends!“

The Parkside Art Gallery and Cafe Pet Friendly •
127 W Ryus Ave, La Veta

“There are very few places that instantly make you feel truly at home, but Anneke and Matthias have achieved this at Parkside Gallery. It's not stuffy at all, instead it's quite warm, welcoming, and even child friendly. I often have gone in with my baby (now toddler) son and drunk a latte there while chatting with the owners. Anneke and Matthias are the kind of people you want to adopt them as family, absolutely so geniune, caring, and loving. There is a sun-filled back room where I have gotten some computer work done previously, and a couch and large table in the main room for gathering with friends/family. Lots of truly beautiful and quality art from local artists there as well, but without the pressure. Highly recommend, just to swing by and get some coffee. I also should mention that there are some chairs and coffee tables outside in the summer if you would prefer to drink coffee next to the park. I'm not sure if they will do it this year, but they had live music on Sundays last year. They have been closed for the winter, but we are really looking forward to getting to see them again soon.“

Deerprint Wine & Consign Bistros • $$
106 E Francisco St, La Veta

“This place is adorable! So quaint and welcoming, we were so happy to stumble in. Taylor behind the bar sold us on the Vinho Verde, a local favorite, and the seared Ahi Tuna, which was, ofcourse, delicious! We also enjoyed a wonderful spread from their cheese and charcuterie board. We finished with the rich and creamy chocolate Bomba and a Madiera wine that dated back to a 1927 Solera! It was a whole experience! My husband and I would highly recommend visiting this place... if you happen to catch them open :) ♡“

“We had a great experience at Dog Bar & Grill during our first visit. The deep fried pickles and mushrooms are spot on. I could've eaten the entire tray of the mushrooms - they're fried to perfection! Whatever you get, make sure to ask for a side of their jalapeño ranch dressing. We also ordered the Hangover Burger and bowl of green chili and both were good. If you're driving through southeast Colorado or visiting Cuchara, make sure to pop in. And don't leave without trying the Famous Dog Bar Mud Pie - the perfect mix of ice cream pie loaded with coffee ice cream, almonds, & a chocolate cookie crust. Excited to go back and explore more of their menu.“
