I sampled my first New Zealand pie from their catering trailer at a cars and coffee event. It was a revelation. After tasting the pie crust, the average burrito tastes like it’s wrapped in a piece of photocopy paper. I tried the steak and cheese. It was very satisfying. If you’re looking for an alternative to the mundane Egg McMuffin, sandwich burger or burrito, this is the way to go.

My partner and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner this evening and we got a steak and mushroom and a blueberry pie. They were absolutely delicious, the pastry blew our minds it was light and honestly perfect. I would recommend this place to anybody. Hands-down the best food we’ve had in a long time and a great person running it.

New Zealand-style pies! Never been here before. Originally was headed for Chocolaterie Stam which was a few doors down. I hadn't had breakfast yet and tried this place out with my partner. Max who was working there was most excellent giving information on where the pies are made as well as a little history of what he knew about New Zealand. As for the food I got myself the bacon, cheese and egg pie. Absolutely delicious the pie was flakey it had a bold bacon flavor throughout without being super greasy and the eggs were perfectly scrambled. Pies come frozen or warmed up. Had to have one warmed up. The building had a nice seating area with seating outwardly looking the side and front windows out looking the street with music coming from a portable speaker which In my opinion set the mood just a bit better not to quite not to loud. Would definitely come here again when in need of a date place or in need of a pie.

Tip Top Pies is a Lafayette favorite. The steak and cheese is a go-to pie. Steak and ale a 2nd favorite. They now have an artichoke spinach that was amazing. It is a small shop to get hot to eat or frozen to take home. Deffinetly get some frozen. You will dream about that flaky crust and be glad you did. Awesome outdoor eating area in downtown Lafayette.Parking: Street side and a free lot across the street.Kid-friendliness: The inside is small, but they have a wonderful outdoor dining area.

I shared a pie with Bacon, Egg and Cheese and also a Steak and Ale pie. The pastry was well made and both pie options tasted great. Coffee is good too, so will be recommending to friends and coming back too

Tip Top is my destination in Lafayette! Such a cool town to walk around, and then Tip Top is the best lunch spot. The meat pies are nothing like that here in America, a must try!

I ate the beef & cheddar and beef & ale pies and they were quite good, but their vegetarian options were quite poor. The Tikka was super dry and there are very few drink options. We were literally choking the Tikka down and the server was kind enough to offer a spinach and artichoke pie which was better but still very dry and sub par. They should make the vegetarian options with a sauce or gravy like the wonderful meat options. We had a blueberry pie for dessert with whip cream from a can. Although the pastry crusts are all great the pie filling was, heavy on the sugar and low on fruit. Also there were no tables available, just a very small bar along the wall and metal seats, not much of a sit down place. Think of this as more of a take away place.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options were not good. Nice idea but you could do better eating a samosa at any random Indian restaurant.

Had a Steak & Cheese Pie from their food trailer at the Manitou Springs Coffin Races!!I hadn't had a meat pie before this, but it was very filling and quite compact for $10.Service was incredibly good and incredibly fast, only took 2 minutes to get my pie.Their menu is very descript of what you get, the Steak & Cheese Pie had very tender steak, cheese, and some gravy.

This place was cute but way over priced. We got the steak and mushroom, as well as the bacon, egg, cheese pie. It was mostly just bread not much flavor to it. The steak and mushroom was alot better but still not worth what we paid.

Love Australian meat pies. This place did really good job. The selection was small, and the place was hot but worth it

The pies are so delicious!!! I am sad that they are suddenly much smaller, but not cheaper. Not so affordable at $22 for a meal :(

If you have found yourself driving through Lafayette, maybe going to a festival there or hitting up another delicious spot, you might have seen this cute little location. I remember when I first noticed Tip Top pies I was curious what kind of options they had.I like the idea of a pie shop. I was a fan of the short-lived show Pushing Daisies that starred Lee Pace as "The Pie-Maker" and now whenever I see a pie shop I think about him brining back strawberries from a rotten state. This is a savory pie place though which I am not as familiar with but seems like a spot that would be found in England, New Zealand, or Australia. When you go into this location the smell of delicious pies hits you right in the face. Actually, before you even enter in. The second you open the door the smell hits you right in the face. It got me excited. The woman at the counter was very nice and I was noticing that there was a picked at pie that I assume she was eating. A good sign from what I could tell.I ordered a sausage roll. Maybe this was my mistake. This shop claims to have New Zealand style savory pies and I know that a sausage roll is very much British. I hope to one day have one of those famous Gregg's sausage rolls that are popular in England.I also tried to order a latte for my wife but the woman at the counter said they were out of the syrup that my wife wanted and out of milk. Just flat out out of milk. Seems like something that one could just run to the store for but that is fine. Coffee and milk I'm sure won't be requested often when selling pies...Either way the service was pleasant despite them being out of ordered beverage. So, the sausage roll was...for sure a roll of sausage. Maybe this option isn't for me but from what I have SEEN pictures of I feel like this sausage roll was a bit different from what I expected. This sausage roll was filled with a big (excuse my phrasing) wad of sausage meat. Almost tough like a poorly made hamburger or meat loaf. It wasn't as dry though as it had maintained moisture from being in the pastry. The pastry was SUPER flaky to a point where it was brittle. I took a bite and half of the roll shattered all over me, the floor, and the table.I can't say I won't eat here again but this first trip didn't impress me much. Happy to take suggestions on what to order next time.

My husband absolutely loves Tip Top Pies! We live down the street and he gets them all the time. I used to be a huge fan as well, but sadly haven't been able to have them since the gluten free ones were discontinued. I totally understood over the last few years with shortages of ingredients, but as things normalize it would be great to see them come back so I could enjoy them as well! I'm totally willing to pay whatever price it takes to make it a reasonable investment for the company, even if they are only available by special order or something!

So, where do I start? I moved to Colorado, more specifically, to Boulder in February of this year, and since that time, I’ve looked at the menu numerous times, have walked by the restaurant several times, but had not tried the pies, until today. I decided, after researching several other local restaurants yet to be tried, I would sink my teeth into one of the Tip Top Savory Pies; much to my disappointment!! The steak and cheese was the recommended pie by the employee, to which I took his recommendation and after tipping, came to a little over $16.00When he returned with my to go order, my first thought when I saw the tiny paper bag in his hand, was that there must have been an additional item that accompanied the pie that I was not aware of. But much to my surprise, it was the pie! I’m not even sure how to describe the size, except to say, it was a child’s portion in size. When I got home, the disappointment was only enhanced due to the fact there was no cheese to be found, there were only about 2-3 pieces of beef inside, and the gravy, horrible!! The gravy was disgusting, tasting like packaged gravy that you simply add water to. Rarely do I ever leave a poor review, and I am not seeking anything from the establishment. I simply feel it’s necessary for those who have yet to experience the restaurant, to examine the product before paying. Perhaps there are some who feel the portion sizes are adequate; to each their own.

The pies are lucious. Crust is to die for. However, the size has decreased quite a bit and they are still expensive. We don't mind paying up if we get a "whole" pie. They also stopped making some of the ones we love the most, Steak & Mushroom and Sausage Rolls with green chili. Please, bring them back.
