Pueblo's latest quality restaurant opens at the SE Corner of Routt and Northern in the old "Steve's Klammshell" jazz bar. I had considered buying this place a decade ago for the five apartments on the top floor, but I knew nothing about running a restaurant, so I took a pass, despite the very good price at which the place was offered. Now, having just moved into the neighborhood from Colorado Springs and eating mostly Mexican, Hispanic and Italian family-owned restaurants, I saw the "Steakhouse" sign in the window and I had to stop in.The place has been completely, tastefully redone by Kelly and Dave, the husband-wife team who are two of the new owners. soft, The dark-wood decor is a total upgrade from the diner setting and decor previously. It was perfect for my tastes as was the eclectic mix of music, which included a lot of soft rock and some Southern rock. For bottled beer I had a Modelo, which was very good, and I ordered their sirloin steak, which was wonderful (I wanted prime rib, but they were sold out when I got there 20 minutes before closing.). They serve a great salad, with creamy Italian dressing and you can have bleu cheese crumbles with that if you ask. The place is very much like a spacious version of Quincy's Steakhouse in Florence, and has a huge separate dining room on the east side with a wonderful functional fireplace. The seating was comfortable and the booths were roomy, the seats not too soft (too soft seats sinking down--always a bad thing at a restaurant!). The staff was prompt, friendly, courteous, and almost old-world in their gentility. Their prices were very good--I think $27.50 for a 12-ounce, thick-cut prime rib slab. Remarkable in today's inflationary market. I would recommend this place to anyone desiring a romantic evening with an elegant meal. Next time I am bringing a date.

For those looking for a date night, a celebration spot, gracious libations at the hottest steak drop in Pueblo, I'd humbly advise to visit The Klammshell!I had the honour to celebrate my great friends 85th birthday there, not only was the staff and owners a breath of fresh air, the foods were delicious, steak melted on the tongue, desserts had us all reveling in a sugar high and the drinks were top star rated. Ask for the infused Jameson at the Bar and oooh the delicious drops of butterscotch pleasures will not disappoint. To the owners I sincerely apologize to not having this in earlier.

Food is ok, the steak and prime rib were over salted, the potato's seem to be from a box . The service is trash and definitely won't be returning .the waitress was rude and couldn't get another drink as she didn't return after the food was drop off until she dropped off the check. She complained when we asked her to split the check and said she couldn't, was a party of 8Also check your card the next day , they added additional tip. Will be turning them in

What a great steak especially for the price! Potatoes and veg were excellent but the house made salad dressing is so good you could drink it! The service was excellent and we have returned twice since it opened. The owners are onsite and are always friendly. I highly recommend!!

Went by earlier. Parking was full, but both doors were shut and locked. Tried to call, but no answer. This place used to have good food. Was looking forward to it again. Another old place that has changed unfortunately.
