Food is cooked to order and the service impressive. They take orders and handle service entirely by memory no matter how big or complicated the order is. I've gone there a few times ands not once had my order been wrong. Aside from that neat stuff it's a typical joint that's like a fast food joint but not quite.

I have been going here since the 1970s, as a little boy with my parents.It used to be a great place with a nice, family atmosphere and really incredible food.Now it is completely different!Food quality is way down.Portion size is ridiculously small.The atmosphere is not comfortable, especially at night.The prices have been raised to a level that is INSANELY HIGH, in relation to the poor food quality and small portions.(let's remember that it is only fast food; burgers and hot dogs)Lastly, the staff can be extremely rude and argumentative.(after they screw up the order repeatedly).The heavy-set, short Hispanic night manager is a very disrespectful woman; she is not customer friendly!I really wish that it could still be like it used to be when the prior generation owned it.Kevin

Fabulous clam chowder. Clam strips were great as well. Fast food and service. I even bought a tshirt. As a non local it’s worth getting off the highway!

I love this place. If I had to compare it to In and Out, I would say the difference between both places is the bread. Overall, the best burger in town. This is what fast-food should be!A must try if you are around and want fast food but want real burgers. I am a regular, def. ask for Mochi. She's the best and is super friendly. The restaurant has been around since 1942. It was also in the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives because it's so amazing!If you don't know what to order just get a cheeseburger with the works. I've eaten other things on the menu but their burgers are a must try. Just beware, their chili-cheese hotdog is very spicy. Not a regular spicy, more of a sweating type of spicy. You will need water or a milkshake. My toddler loves their milkshakes. If you get a milkshake, they will give you a medium size. So, specify if you want a small.

I grew up going to the Merritt Canteen with my family. The service is always quick and efficient. It's the best quick-service food around, especially the hot dogs. I became a fan of their bison cheeseburgers in recent years - the meat is lean and very juicy. I moved 40 minutes away back in 2018, so I don't get to enjoy the food as much as I used to...but whenever I'm back in the area, this is one of my favorite go-to spots.
