This is EXACTLY what you want from a sushi restaurant. Firstly, and most importantly, the fish and the sushi is as good as it gets. The friendly chef and wait staff put time and great care into their food and their restaurant and it shows. Sake selection is great, food is stellar, staff is friendly, restaurant is very clean. My new favorite restaurant in the area and one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had.

Came in on a Friday night and it wasn’t that busy. It still took over 10 minutes from being seated to getting water. Another 15 to have our order taken. Once our order was finally taken, it took over an hour for the food. The whole time, our server seemed to not really know what was going on. And as if to add insult to injury, the sushi was mushy, not fresh, and ultimately not worth the wait. Will not be going back

We started trying this restaurant when they first opened and we’ve always had such a positive experience. The quality of the food is just amazing. It’s the best sushi in our area. The hostess is the sweetest.

I have been reading the rave reviews for Amai so of course we checked it out...and Wow! Just fantastic! The Omikase is out of this world delicious! Yes, maybe a bit pricey but totally worth it. THE freshest fish, an amazingly flavorful preparation, and we loved sitting at the bar watching the chef create each dish. Highly, highly recommend!

The best sushi I've had in Connecticut. The quality of the fish is unreal and the attention to detail is amazing. And the sushi chef and owner are both so nice and welcoming! I can't wait to go back to try the omakase.

Excellent sushi with attention to quality. Everything on the menu (even the wasabi) is delicious.

GEM! Been here a few times and in my opinion by far the best quality sushi around. Appetizers were delicious unfortunately ate sushi and ramen and forgot photo. Amber one of the owners is adorable. They are fairly new to the area and we are lucky to have them. Wish them much

The place was nice and staff were extremely polite and on time with when my order was. The food was not very good and too overpriced.

Amai has some really, really good sushi. We were legitimately impressed, especially given how mediocre sushi is in this area generally. The prices are a little on the high side, even for sushi at this level, but at least you know you're paying for quality. We went on a weekday so it wasn't busy and got friendly, attentive service. Nothing in the area we've tried touches this place. I hope the locals embrace and support it. Highly recommend.

I recently dined at Amai Sushi in Brookfield and was thoroughly impressed. The service was attentive and thoughtful, complementing the serene atmosphere of the restaurant. The highlight of the visit was, without a doubt, the omakase meal. The quality of the fish was top-notch, each piece prepared with a level of care and precision that brought out the best in every bite. Standouts included the scallop hand roll, king crab, madai (sea bream), and toro – each offering a unique and memorable flavor. Though they were out of uni, the meal concluded impressively with foie gras and A5 wagyu, adding a luxurious finish.Jerry, the sushi chef, demonstrated true culinary artistry. His work easily ranks as the best sushi experience I’ve had in the area. While my visit on a Wednesday evening was quiet, it seems the restaurant is a popular spot, especially on Fridays, so reservations might be advisable for weekend dining.Thank you, Amai Sushi, for a fantastic meal. Looking forward to returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience in Brookfield.

I really wanted to like this place since we are in desperate need of a great sushi place here. But... We ordered take out perhaps that was the issue. They forgot half our order and we had to return to the restaurant to grab the rest. Spring roll app basic Cod app $22!!! For 2 bite size skewers. Very good but not for the price. Wish I took a pic. Poke bowl and Dream roll wreaked of fish. No one went there, except for husband. Miso soup average but tofu tasted funny too. Generous portion of pork in the Bao but soaking wet. Chicken Bento came with thigh meat, rice salad and 2 pieces of veges. Not impressed at all. The $15 PINT of soup consisted of a miso Broth, 2 shrimp, a scallop and 2 asparagus stems cut small. Again maybe take out wasn't the right road to take. Disappointed!!

If you love sushi this is the place to go! Everything is so delicious and fresh and is prepared and served in such an artistic way. The Omakase is fantastic!

First a little context. I'm a big fan of Omakase. I expect it to be delicious, I expect it to be pricy, and I expect it to be expertly prepared. Typically to get decent Omakase I travel to Greenwich or to New York City. Recently it was brought to my attention that a nearby restaurant in Danbury/Brookfield serves good Omakase. I was skeptical. Nevertheless I jumped in my car and drove over there for lunch. My first impression was that I might be at risk. It is a typical strip mall style space, relatively small, and the Omakase bar only seats four - the remainder is table seating . It is not grandly appointed like some of the Greenwich places are. The miso soup was perfectly fine however it was very standard for what you might expect at any local Japanese place. Then came the Omakase. Guess what? It was expertly prepared and quite delicious. There was a very nice variety of quality fish. I have appended pictures so that you can get an idea of the presentation. And to top it off, while not inexpensive, it was appropriately priced. So all I can say is if you're a fan of Omakase and you're frustrated that it's hard to get in the local area, you now have an option that will save you the drive to Westport, Greenwich or New York City. And save you some $ as well. Final note, the service was attentive, my tea was kept topped up throughout the meal, and the sushi chef was a pleasure to watch work and told me what each piece was as he presented them.
