We love Ginger Root! This is our main Chinese restaurant. We mostly order online and get to go. Food is always good! We switch around the items but always get Mooshu and some broccoli dish. Owners are friendly and accommodating.

Honestly the worst Chinese food I've had in Hartford County and most places around here are sub-par. The dumplings were absolutely black from being burnt, the spare ribs were so tough we couldn't chew them, and the Gem Tsos was so so so bad - stringy and tough on inside but soggy mush on outside. Sushi had a weird taste. Rice was bland, more boiled than fried, and had almost no pork. Spent SO much money and it's all going in the trash, I'm so bummed out man.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER ENCOUNTERED!!! Some of their Sushi rolls are shown as buy 1 get 1 free. I received only one of each I ordered as such. When I called to rectify the situation with the restaurant the man started yelling at me telling me I never ordered from their restaurant at all!! $90 spent!! We were celebrating our daughters 2nd birthday so I was not in a position to be able to leave my house and pursue the matter further. I was so taken back by the employees behavior!! I WIIL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN AND FULLY RECOMMEND NO ONE EVER ORDERS FROM HERE!!

I go to this restaurant about once every week. They are amazing. They usually have my food ready for me when I get there. The quality of there food is amazing for the price. I literally don’t order sushi from anywhere else unless there closed (Mondays) they remember me now and know when I’m picking up. There staff is amazing ( I think it’s mostly family but I’m not sure.) please eat here they are the best sushi place that I have found in the area!

I eat here everyday! Hands down the best sushi in Ct! Food is always fresh. Must have the chocolate cake! Staff is very friendly. They treat you like family. Definitely worth it and you’ll leave with a happy tummy and a warm heart.Thank you guys for always providing the best service! Just moved to CT and was looking for a quiet Asian fusion restaurant. Ginger Root was perfect. I have to do gluten free and so Asian is always a good choice. The server was attentive and friendly. Portions were larger than expected. And loved the food. Overall five stars all around!

The food here is turning for the worse. I don’t recommend anyone buying here. Several years ago before the pandemic hit foods were great. I even recommended coworkers. Things turn pretty bad during the pandemic where the food no longer tastes right. I don’t know if they have a new chef or what. Not enough salt or any salt at all in my most recent order over $60. A few times I spent over $110 but the food was literally garbage. The sweet & sour crispy fried fish was not a whole fish as in their menu picture but rather a substitute Talapia or cheap cat fish filet. Two pieces less than a pound for $20. Portion was tiny and stuffed with vegetables with a trace of any meat. The place is going cheap on everything. I made too many mistakes and this time it will be my last time spending money here. Sushi is a joke! It’s a Chinese takeout and hardly a place for Japanese cuisine.

Reliably good takeout. Lo mein that will satisfy your craving; above average egg rolls; warm, easygoing staff who are a pleasure to interact with. They pass the cold sesame noodle test ? Expansive menu that truly has something for everyone. We ❤️ this restaurant. Shout out for cool name too. It draws one in, doesn’t it? One star off because I didn’t like the wonton broth: tastes like miso, not chickeny enough. Also more wasabi needed with rolls. Putnam roll v delicious.
