We has stop in and had breakfast. The food was very good the coffee was good the only thing was small cup 4 oz. The service was ok. The only thing was the price you got charge separate for everything This was the most my husband and I ever paid for breakfast. All we had was eggs, home fries ,bacon and toast. It was over $30.00. I don't think we will go back there just because of the price.

Tiny old school diner that has been around for 57 years. Kara, the owner, took over from her dad and single handedly runs the business. Being the waitress, cook and bottle washer has its challeges, especially if there's a customer rush. The food is solid but that's not the main reason or attraction, it's more about community, family and the unique personalities and characters that frequent the place. New England has many quaint places full of rustic country New England charm; Chic's is one of them.

I usually love these little mom and pop spots but not this one.Only 2 people in the restaurant so I should have known.Coffee came with breakfast, tiny 4 ounce cup of coffee, burnt potatoes ( badly). The lady that served us was extremely rude, never said anything, not even thank you or your welcome when I repeatedly said thank you..super aweful

The food was good, but the service was extremely poor. It was myself and my significant other for breakfast. Part of our order was "forgotten" (it was a side of toast). Waitress had a poor attitude upon walking in. No greeting, no thank yous or anything. We could hear her slamming dishes and silverware as we were eating. Even had an attitude upon paying.

A single owner/operator greasy spoon diner with very basic food done well and done cheap. I have passed by this place a bunch. Has always been closed when I would drive by. Today they were open, so I decided to make my stop in. Single cook/waitress was running the whole show. she's a bit run down, but puts on a good face when she approaches. There was a few locals in this location, talking about the things to do and projects they had to get done. They involved me in their conversation, and helped passed the time while I waited for my food to come out. I ordered pancakes since one of the locals ordered them. With a single person manning the helm, I didn't want to add more to their plate than I needed to. When they did come out, the portion was pretty large. In terms of pancakes, they were good. they were not special, but they were prepared well and very hearty. Price was very cheap, pancakes and coffee came out to 8 bucks. It's not special food, but it's cheap and good food. If you're looking for a local greasy spoon to have a simple breakfast then this is a decent option.

I love this place. I discovered it while in the area for work and ate every lunch there and breakfast as well. It’s a straight forward menu made with fresh ingredients.

3 people waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged at all, only to find another 2-top was also waiting. Took everyone else's order when I stepped outside for a phone call. Cashed out a single customer, looked at me, and went back to the kitchen. Didn't even ask me if I wanted anything at all (including a beverage) until she dropped off the food to the two other people I was sitting with. Not certain how she's even in operation with service that bad

I stopped in at Chic's Restaurant in Ellington. It's near the Vernon town line. I had a breakfast of bacon and eggs, hash browns and rye toast. Everything was nicely prepared from scratch and the potatoes were fresh cut and very good, not from a package. Although the rye toast wasn't prepared on premises, it was excellent. Attention to my coffee cup was frequent. This cafe is much like an old-time diner and the decor and seating, although of a vintage style, were well-kept and clean. There are stools at the counter, but several tables as well. The server/cook was friendly, with efficient service. Chic's is open for breakfast and lunch every day except Sunday. I recommend this cafe and highly suggest you try it.

Rather strange visit. There was only one worker and she was the waitress and the chef. I was sitting at the counter but she asked if I wanted my order to go? She could only seem to make one person's order at a time so be prepared to wait.

My husband and I love this place. It is a one person operation, not a place to go if your in a hurry. The food is great. The proprietor and the customers are friendly. You get a real homecooked breakfast. Great lunches and phenominol corned beef and cabbage in March.

We felt like we inconvenienced the cook/waitress by coming in for breakfast. Food took forever, coffee refill took forever, and waited over 20 minutes for the check (there were literally 4 other people in the place, all at the counter) before I got up from the table, and hovered by the register to pay. I was going to use the bathroom (because my food served as a colon cleanser), but upon seeing the mildew, I respectfully declined. Avoid this place like the plague!
