Don't put money into the juke box.. you will lose it. Roberto the owner kicked me out instead of helping me put on a new song/ retrieve my lost money. NEVER going back

DO NOT GO HERE. Roberto ( the owner/bouncer) is a huge creep and his juke box is rigged to take your money and to never play your song. Roberto is really doing the people he hires a disservice.

Roberto, the Owner is a huge creep. Sketchy activities with college girls and extracurriculars. Poor service, have a tough time supporting a place with a guy like this running it.

Three times I've been here and every time the owner has a different response on who he lets in even if you're 21... poor business model and not even that fun inside... definitely won't be backing

This place is the worst. Went 1800 miles from south Texas and found this dive. Thinking it was gonna be a real cool dive. Get there and find the worst drunk bartender. And by drunk I mean WASTED. Watch for yourself and give me your rationale!

I'm giving them 5 stars, not because I have tried the food (I've never been there and don't even live in the state) but because they sent my wife a box of Vienna Sausages. Why did they do that? I have no idea, but thank you and with the huge case of 18 cans we have a lifetime supply. Who wants sausages?

My review is solely on the nightlife bar here, as I have never had the food. The crowd here seems to be underage college students. It is often too packed and loud, which is incredibly annoying. Even as a college student, I find this place repulsive. The floor is sticky with spilled beer, the bathrooms are absolutely filthy, and the owner is often drunkenly smoozing with girls half his age. I do not recommend this for anyone.

After walking in the door you might think you are in the wrong place. Don't let the Divey bar decor fool you because the food is great. Enjoy the house made salsa and tortillas while you browse the menu. You can't go wrong with anything it is made to order and the portions are huge! If you want a fast taco goto taco bell. Stay and enjoy 1 of there 60 bottled beers or a $5 Margarita that is dangerously good.

This is a bar that happens to serve Mexican food. It's dark and dank for sure but sometimes you find very good food under these circumstances. The queso con Rajas was fresh and excellent as were the hot, fresh flour and corn tortillas served throughout our meal. The chili relleno was homemade and delicious though the veggie fajitas not seasoned enough for us. The girl who expected to have a proper Cosmo served here is a fool. I sometimes go to four star establishments where I'm wary of getting a good Cosmo. Andale has about 40 beer selections. The chips fresh and hot. I don't love any of the three Hamden Mexican restaurants - ixtapa, aunt chiladas or here, but sometimes you go because it's close and it's what you are craving and that's absolutely fine.

As prev. reviews stated it's a dump, but SOMETIMES dumpy looking places serve the best food. NOT the case here. On a Saturday night at 7:30 aside from 2 guys at the bar we were the only people in the place. I had read that the salsa was made daily, well maybe once years ago, because what we had was certainly not fresh made. The margarita was nasty tasting and the food was missing seasonings, not even salt was used in cooking the refried beans. The side of guacamole was almost watery tasting and didn't even taste like avacado. Thankfully we used a gift cert from Restaurant.com and didn't pay full price. On an upside our waitress was very attentive and despite the nasty food, we did leave her a nice tip (not her fault food was icky).

If you're looking for haute cuisine, lavish décor, or Fairfield County prices, this place is NOT for you. But if you want plenty of authentic Mexican food and big delicious Margaritas, all at incredible prices, you need to check this place out. O.K. so the interior is run down. But I'm there to eat. And with the most expensive entrée on the menu going for $16, I'll take savings over décor any day. We were there on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. Although other reports warn of college kids packing the bar, with school in session, there were none to be seen. I'm guessing perhaps they're there for weekday happy hour. We were given a basket of warm, multi-colored tortilla chips and fresh salsa. The Margaritas were delicious and traditional, served with some ice in huge water tumblers. Our waitress was a young college girl. Perhaps not the most knowledgeable, but very sweet, and tried her best. Although they serve all the classic Mexican entrées, they don't fill their menu with endless combinations. Instead, they were happy to accommodate my request for an additional item with my order. I had their chicken mole enchilada plate along with a steak taco. It came out on a huge oval plate, hot from the oven. I was please to see that enchiladas covered most of the plate, and there was only a modest helping of rice and beans. Having lived in El Paso, Texas for three years, I can tell you that the food here is wonderful, and as authentic as I have ever had.

This place is a dump. It is dark, dingy and outdated. Went there on a weekend night and there were only like 4 people there. The whole place needs a thorough cleaning. The bar surface was sticky and dirty. Then I crossed my legs and the top of my leg hit the bottom of the bar, and something sticky stuck to my pants and stained them. GROSS. The service was great and the food was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of my entree because it was smothered in a bunch of condiments but I ordered something I am not familiar with (trying to branch out from tacos) so it is my own fault if I didn't like it. My friend's food was all good, although they got his order wrong. Prices were very good. Drinks were strong and they had a lot of beer selection. They make you order and pay for chips and salsa instead of providing them free. Not a big deal but I've never had that happen in a Mexican place before. I really wanted to like this place but I just can't see myself ever going there again. Maybe for takeout.
