1st time at Amici's. Went to celebrate a friend's special occasion. The waitstaff catered to us the moment we entered the place. We had a rather large group (10+ppl). All the drink orders were correct. The food orders were all correct. Were able to bring our outside dessert for the special occasion. Made friend's with the diners in the back room with us. Truly a family restaurant. Festively decorated for the holidays.

I had my husband's 60th Surprise party there this past Saturday. I was googling places with a private room and Cafe Amici popped up. I've had dinner there a few times and never had a bad meal so I gave them a call and Steve (co-owner) called right back. No matter how many times I called/texted asking questions, he either answered or he called/texted right back. I was a little nervous because I only ate at the new location in the lounge area and never saw the private room, Steve saved me a trip and sent pictures. The room is very nice, clean and plenty of room for the approximately 45 guests. I decided on a cocktail party and the food choices were great and tasted delicious! It also has a pretty bar area in the room. The staff was very friendly and anticipated all our needs. I was able to enjoy the party without worrying about a thing and our friends and family loved it. I can't Thank the owners, Steve and Michael, our bartender, Rachel, and the waitstaff enough for a truly great night!

We just had our business , anual Christmas party with 40 people and I couldn’t be happier with everything! The food was outstanding, the service excellent and the place warm and welcoming!! Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a wonderful meal!

This is our go-to family resteraunt in town. Good pasta and mains, good drinks, friendly wait staff (though sometimes a little slow, especially if you're in the side dining room). My family and I have probably been 4-6 times or so over the last year, and brought my parents when they were in town. We prefer L'Orcio for Italian, but they're more expensive and a little farther away, so we tend go there for special occassions and to Cafe Amici or other spots when we just want to dine out. I do recommend a same-day call for Friday/weekend dinner reservations; otherwise we've always been seated quickly. (We've never sat outdoors, I can't speak to the patio.)

This place has been our go to since we’ve lived in Hamden. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The only reason they get 4 stars for service is because they make it right when they mess up, otherwise it’s a 3. We were there in July and the waitress served us our appetizers and forgot our main dish even though she took the order. She came and asked what we wanted for dessert and we never got our meal yet. Tonight the waiter forgot our appetizers. In July we got one of our appetizers for free and tonight we were given a discount.

For a restaurant with such great reviews, I’m appalled by the experience we had! The restaurant was freezing cold (their thermostat read 62 degrees), the grating cheese was visibly moldy, my pasta was undercooked (beyond Al dente) and we had to ask for bread. We wanted to enjoy our dinner but the amount of issues we faced was disconcerting!
We called ahead to make a reservation, at least an hour notice. We arrived on time and still had to wait over 20 minutes for a table. Even getting inside was difficult, many doors that opened directly to someone’s table. Even when you found the right one you had trouble finding the cramped hostess podium. After waiting for the table we reserved, we were sat at a tiny high top in the middle of all the foot traffic, right next to the bar and kitchen. On top of this not being a handicap accessible table(we had two handicapped individuals in our party) the table was really two non-matching tables slid together in such a way that left very large gaps in the already very small surface given for a party of four. We only decided to leave when the hostess was entirely unapologetic and informed us we would not be able to get an accessible table for another hour. The bathrooms were nice though. Would definitely not recommend.

The atmosphere and service are great. It's a nice place to enjoy with friends. I don't recommend the stuffed portobello. The flavors didn't work for me. I also had escarole and beans, it was ok, not enough broth.

Best Italian I've had in a while. We've only been twice but both times the staff and food were outstanding. A little expensive, but honestly what isn't these days, the food portions are generous and delish.
