First don't like the place it's very dirty and rude people

I remember when this bar was the second-toughest in the South End (Bones's Tavern was the toughest). It was a place where one could sit in a corner and peer at the local color -- everything from the older Italian gentlemen sipping coffee or anisette in the back to the young streetwise toughs who'd play pool or video games. So long as you minded your own business, you were okay. The last two times I've stopped in I've discovered that the place is not what it used to be. It's now a hang-out run by Albanians or Bosnians, I'm not certain which. Everyone seems to be drinking demitasse there. Everyone. A few beers are sold, and from the look of the bar bottles, gin's the favorite drink by a mile. The highest-level vodka that they carry is Absolut. I think they have a little V.S. cognac. It's still not a place for conversation, but a vodka and tonic's $4 and made strong. The coffee, if you dare, is only $1.
