So glad to have a cafe open in the Library again and Berkins was a great choice to fill that void! Coffee is brewed (americano style) to order and is fantastic! Good choice of grab and go breakfast items (scones, bagels, etc) and hot and cold lunch options.Parking: Tip: Sheldon Street always seems to have the most open spaces.

Stopped in Berkins on Main when looking for a cafe to work from Downtown. It's a bit difficult to find right now due to the confusion with the library being closed, but you can access the cafe by walking though the front door or the side. I grabbed a tropical green tea with oat milk and a plain bagel with cream cheese. There were baked goods as well as a small menu with other food options. The space is vibrant because of the huge windows that allow sunlight in. The decor reminds me a bit of an early 2000s cafe with modern touches. The staff was friendly and really informative about the menu.

wrap was decent and the cashier was very nice (took a little while to come take my order bc everyone was in the back so i was just kinda standing there) but they sold me an expired yogurt without me realizing that was so foul tasting... i feel like i shouldn't have to check whether the food i've been sold is actually rancid or not after tasting a bit of it but i'm glad i didupdate; the veggie wrap i had had very bitter and burned greens in it and also carrots that were not cooked well so they were pretty tough and somehow chewy. i hadn't had it entirely when first writing this review but now that i have i'm not really too keen on it either

It would be very cool if the chef actually understood gluten intolerances. Hours of sickness after plenty of warning and confirming that the food would be gluten free.

Quaint little cafe inside the museum that has goodies to refuel you after walking all day.It stocks a variety of foods, I'm sure you'll be able to find something for your craving.Soups, muffins, Jamaican Patties, sandwiches, teas, coffees, and soft drinks.I devoured the creamy Cajun vegetable soup of the day. It had a delicious spicy kick to it! It hit the spot!! The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly.I will make sure to stop in again on my next museum trip!

"Through the long lonely nights, she filled my sleepHer body softly swaying to that smoky beatDown on Main Street"(Bob Seger)The old Athenium Cafe has been reborn as Berkins on Main, located on the main level of the Hartford Athenium. We checked out their menu board and display case for the day's offerings - hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pastries, Jamaican meat pies, muffins, croissants, cookies, scones and coffee and teas. Once we decided, we ordered at the counter and grabbed a seat in the outdoor courtyard. We all ordered the same thing -a grilled turkey and cheddar Panini ($10.49) with tomato and peppers. I have to say, the sandwich was excellent, I mean really great taste, portion size, value, everything. The only odd thing about the sandwich was it shared its plate with nothing. Nada. Rien. No scoop of slaw or a handful of chips, or even a pickle slice. I'm thinking that a price point of $10+ should toss you a bone as a small side dish. Anyway, our lunch was priced right and the panini was delicious.

The chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits on the Brunch menu are both delicious!! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. I'd definitely recommend them if in the area.
