Most of the stuff there is expired and the owner doesn’t seem to care about people without a mask coming in his store. ??

Welcomed addition to downtown outlet for traditional foods, excellent deli menu with hot breakfast selections made to order, great selections of beverages hot and cold. Recent

This is the biggest convenience store in Hartford downtown. It opened in a building which used to be CVS a while ago. The place had veggies, fruits, drinks, snacks and other items found in convenience stores. I went for lunch one day. I took a falafel wrap. I would say it was ok. I asked for spicy, and they added jalapeno to make it spicy. That made it very spicy. Food in the lunch counter looked good. It was $7.99/lb. I went for rice, beef curry and scrambled egg. Again I would say it was ok.

Decided to stop in and check out the new Hartford Food Market that I read about in Hartford Courant, and I have to say I was pretty impressed with the store overall. There is no sign on the building yet, which might confuse people, but if you can find the corner of Main Street and Central Row, you will find it. It's a great concept for downtown, lots of groceries that lean towards healthy, a full deli for sandwiches, a decent looking salad bar with hot entree selections, and a coffee bar too. Everything a downtown worker or resident could ask for in one convenient store. Prices for grocery items were definitely fair for a downtown Hartford location, and like I said they seemed to have a good selection of healthy options. Lots of snack options as well, and they had a great selection of boutique sodas. Aisles were nice and wide, and the lighting was good too. I decided to go old school and try and grilled cheese on rye. Score! The sandwich was nicely grilled, with a good melt factor. Prices were fair for the sandwich, chips and root beer I bought and the women at the check out register were all quite friendly. All in all, a very nice option for downtown shoppers and people looking for a bite to eat.

It's only Day 2 so it's far too early to judge entirely but my first impressions are positive. It's an ambitious food market. With a full sandwich and salad counter and pizza and salad bar and hot food bar and more. Ample groceries but still far from full service. They're still filling the place out. For now it's a good addition. Let's see how the next few months of tweaks go.
