Good not great. Some swear by this place and I get it. It's just not high on my radar. I usually get the Cajun Chicken Caesar. Chicken is done very well. The salad is mixed earlier in a massive metal bowl and served as you go. I think, for me, it's the Caesar dressing. It's creamy but has a weird texture. Like I said, it's not bad that I'd never go back but I've had better at other places in town like Take 5 in the Gold Building. The biggest plus is everything is made fresh and onsite (I think). The roasted turkeys and meatloaf all look great. They are, however, sitting under heat lamps all day so you can get dry stuff if it's late. The obvious downside is it's cash only so you have to be prepared. Definitely a no frills vibe to the place, but that's ok

I work in downtown Hartford and eat at Le Petit at least 2x a week. The restaurant may be a little hole in the wall, and not much to look at, but the food is AMAZING. My favorite is the California Chef Salad - all the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The roasted chicken breast is nearly always cooked perfectly and is generously added to the salad. The vinaigrette dressing is delicious. Don't miss grabbing a piece of freshly baked bread by the register - they bake it there each day. They also have daily special "dinners" - I rarely miss the Salmon on Fridays. The fresh turkey sandwiches are delicious - but get there early because they only roast one turkey a day and once it's gone it's gone. The best part is that you can't beat the prices for what you get. It is cash only which helps keep the prices down, but getting such a generous salad or salmon dinner with sides for under $10 is awesome.

I am so happy to have found Le Petit Chef again now that I am again working in downtown Hartford. I am enjoying Le Petit Salade Verte. Roasted chicken is cooked perfectly-not dry! Perfectly dressed greens in vinaigrette. Lots of other yummies. Crunchy bread! I look forward to working my way through the menu over the coming months. Thank you!
