The ultimate neighborhood restaurant and bar. The food's excellent. Good choices including a few Portugese entrees. Don't miss this place, it wont be there forever.

We used to love this place. Had a bunch of parties catered in the past but I feel like the food just isn't as good now. The menu is very expensive..I don't think there was anything under $20 although they were doing a special for $20 where you get app entree and dessert. But the entree was very small. And my wife's cod came out cold and on a bed of salad. I've never seen that before. Probably won't be back which is a shame.

We came for the Taste of Hartford, not knowing what to expect, other than what was on the tasting menu. While the bar appears to be a neighborhood hangout, the restaurant is a white tablecloth dining room with pictures of Portuguese scenes. A pleasant environment for dinner, with a chef who knows his oeuvre. The service was questionable to say the least, but we ended up happy with our dinner. We ordered a bottle of Malbec, and she brought a different one from the one on the menu. We had a long discussion about whether I would order the pork and clams or the port and steak. I finally chose the clams, but she brought the pork and steak. Despite this, the food was excellent. We both started with the calde verde soup, which was tasty and filling. My wife had the paella, and she was very pleased with it. The pork and steak that I ended up with was excellent. The sauce was not hot but had a nice tang and very enjoyable. The pork was incredibly tender and tasty. The steak, not quite as tender. The pickled vegetables are very sour - I loved them that way, but my wife found them a little two sour. I was very happy with the drunken pear for desert. My wife says she has had better flan. It seemed like the wine list could use an upgrade, although I don't really know much about Portuguese wines. Prices are very reasonable.

Looks like a house on the street, but it's a warm friendly restaurant with delightful Portuguese menu. Reasonable prices, good service, and a distinctive experience.
