A hole in the wall you wouldn't think about unless someone told you. For me, appearance is a huge factor and if something looks old I usually forget about it. But my husband grew up in Middletown and loves this place so I gave it a shot and let me tell you they are family run and meticulous. They care about what they're producing and it's delicious. We come here every summer to get blue raspberry. Also with having a nut allergy and some flavors that could pose a risk for me, they always clean the scoop before serving me. They make me feel extremely safe! It's hard for me to find safe and reassuring ice cream places (or Italian ice!)

Tasty little treat after lunch! The watermelon Italian ice was full of juicy flavor. And my friend just raved about her affogato -- espresso with vanilla cream. It's worth taking the short walk from Middletown's Main St. to visit this tiny take-out spot. You won't regret it!

Excellent product for a very cheap price. I saw owner giving gelato to homeless man who could not pay. It was very kind of him. The place is somewhat run down but good and people are great. Highly recommend!

BEST PLACE EVER!! Ice cream was my love but since going here, their Italian ice & gelato is my absolute FAV! Such an amazing hidden gem in Middletown, I usually buy pints to keep me happy through winter when they close. Great customer service, clean store inside, a variety of options, and they give you a lot for the cost. Vecchittos has my heart.

I grew up on this... The very best Italian Ice anywhere! I have recently ordered two quarts to take to Maine for my grandson and daughter. Chocolate and watermelon. Needless to say they were thrilled to get it. When I went to pick up my order around 12 noon the day I was leaving for ME, there was a line of people waiting to get in when I was leaving. That was on a week day. It must be crazy on a weekend. People waiting on you are great and patient as always. It's also always clean. Great place to go and cool down with a cup of gelato or Italian Ice. So many flavors to choose from. You won't be disappointed....guaranteed! It's Five Star for me. E.D.

Vecchitto's Italian Ice is a wonderful old country traditional ice and gelato shop. The ices are always perfectly flavored, not overly sweet and the gelato is soooo creamy and smooth. My personal favorite is the Affogato which is gelato "drowned" in hot Expresso. If you've never tried this delicious concoction you are missing out big time. I do have to caution you, once you try an Affogato you'll return as often as possible! Enjoy!
