Great food, service is always a bit slow because they are busy. One of the top breakfast spots in Milford. A must try!

So as empty nesters, we try to find new places to try each week. Today we ventured to THE PLATE in Milford CT. The reviews were good and we have to agree. The menu items were ambitious. The items we ordered are in the phot description and we wanted to try some standards and some new choices. The chicken fried steak was delicious, highly recommend. The pulled pork hash was good, but the potatoes had a bit of mashed quality when mixed with the pork and I would have water it more well done. The challah was thinner than most, but really delicious. The coffee was meh, but I’m thinking I may be a coffee snob, so don’t go by me. Long story short, nice place to go. Service was solid and the location expands a few storefronts so plenty of seating.

First time there yesterday. Small place, very busy. I decided to take my stuff to go. I ordered corned beef hash two eggs over easy and toast. It was perfect. Prepare quickly and was piping hot when I took it out. They make their own hash. It was delicious. I highly recommend it.

Just before Christmas I met up with 2 long time friends for breakfast. I arrived early, seated and served a beverage right away. My friends arrived and of course we want to relax and chat. The server asked several times for us to order. Once we ordered, food did arrive quickly. I ordered French toast and syrup was not included nor provided. And… Before we were done, the check was on the table so, obviously we weren’t going to be asked if we needed anything else. We lingered chatting and the server came over a few times for us to pay. When we left there were people waiting to be seated, I understood the server wanting us gone but don’t make your guest feel rushed.

Second time here for breakfast. The place was jumping on the Friday morning before Christmas, but there were tables in the quieter entry space before you walk into the main dining room. Despite how busy it was, service was prompt and friendly. I really like the menu; plenty of usual items, but a good number of creative ones as well. I had an omelet which was very good, but I especially liked the home fries with lots of paprika and onions. The white toast used better bread than most diners. I think in addition to good cooking, they use above average ingredients and it shows. The portions are not as large as some places, but they are definitely enough, and I'll trade quality for quantity anytime. Coffee was good too. Prices very reasonable. We're only in Milford once a year, but we'll be back every time.

My go to for breakfast. Best in the whole area. Good ingredients, you can get real maple syrup, quality gluten free pancakes, great specials and organic French press coffee. I could go on and on.

Went here for the first time on Sunday, so it was pretty packed but we didn't have to wait for a seat. The menu is different and everything on it sounds great. We ordered and didn't wait long at all. Food was delicious and filling for sure. I would definitely return to try more of the menu. The service was good also.
