Questionable quality food. I received a soup and dumplings order via Uber eats from this restaurant last night…….. the pork ball was gray in color like a corpse, and rubbery like like a pencil eraser. Totally disgusting and non edible. The fish ball was a mound of what tasted and looked like glued together imitation crab meat. I sank my teeth in it and immediately spit it out. The dumplings were dried out and tasted like paper. Waste of money.. I wouldn’t recommend. I didn’t even eat it

Went here for Cinco De Mayo late at night. One woman was working by herself. She was kind, food was prepared pretty fast AND it was Delicious!!!!! Very good small hole in the wall dumpling spot. Thank you for your help :)

Yes place looks questionable but food is amazing. We had to come back for the second portion of dumplings.

Disappointing. The spicy chicken noodles was basically ramen noodles with the spice packet sprinkled on it. Basically no chicken and dumplings were sour.

My boyfriend found this place because he's a late night delivery driver and we're both so glad he did! The food has been consistently good and flavorful, 100% recommend for a quick bite.

The food here is GOOD. The Asian food scene is sadly lacking in New Haven, and buns n dumplings helps fill the dumpling-shaped hole in my tummy a little.I ordered take out with 2 friends and among the 3 of us, we ordered just enough food to finish everything and be stuffed. It took about 30 minutes for all the food to be prepared for us to pick up. The Shanghai soup dumplings were good in flavor, but unfortunately soup-less. They may have been prepared earlier than the other items in our order and while sitting in the container, the soup soaked into the wrappers. Similarly, the scallion pancakes were mildly warm and quite soggy/not crispy or flaky. It's likely they were made earlier too and sat in the container while everything else was prepared. The lotus leaf sticky rice, shumai, and fried dumplings were a HIT; we will definitely be ordering those again next time. The peanut noodles were okay. We had a lot of noodles for not a lot of sauce, so a lot of the noodles (especially at the bottom) were quite plain. I did really appreciate that there were actual peanuts in the dish and not just peanut sauce alone! The place is a tiny hole in the wall with one or two small tables at the front of the restaurant. I can't really see anyone dining in here, so I imagine it's mostly take out. Unfortunately, this does mean a lot of foods aren't eaten as soon as they are prepared--possibly leading to soupless soup dumplings and soggy scallion pancakes. 4/5 for the food; will definitely order from here again!

Eat here. Don't question it. It felt like I was being welcomed into a home kitchen with homely atmosphere and tasty bites.

This is honestly some of the worst food I've had in quite a while. It was clearly all frozen and reheated, and they didn't even bother to include sauces with my order. It all tasted like cardboard. Gross.

This is my favorite place in New Haven. The woman who owns it is very kind and works hard. The food is great and it’s open late especially during the weekends for the bar crowd. You just gotta try for yourself.
