Sushi is very fresh. One of if not the best sushi places. It's open bar it's very unique. Definitely expensive, but for the experience and sushi alone it was worth the price of admission. Great date night

An affordable omakase with tremendous potentials! First of all, I was highly impressed at the quality of the fish at this price. All the fish was fresh and maintained in clean environment. However, there are a few modifications that would improve the taste of the whole experience. Everything was blend, except the appetizer. The appetizer was too salty and unimpressive. I think it would’ve been better if it had some citrus and sweet flavor (yuzu?) instead of just plain soy sauce. For the sushi, the rice was too blend. It definitely needs more flavor. Salmon nigiri should not go with sesame seeds because the sesame overwhelms the salmon. Seaweed was really good but it was just too painful to witness the high quality toro to be ruined by spicy mayo ?. The quality of yellowtail was top notch. It will be amazing with the right flavored rice. With some modifications, I believe this place will be great! the price is unbeatable.

This is one of the best omikase places in New Haven. The management is thoughtful and truly cares about its customers. I can't rave enough about what a gem Rockfish is. Every person who works here is kind and caring. They really will take their time to answer any questions. The fish is fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The packaging is clean and informative, great for Omikase newbies like myself and seasoned Omikase friends!

I had my first experience with my friend and her brother today and it was fantastic. The fish was fresh, the cuts were amazing and the service was impeccable. Would highly recommend as an omakase spot in CT and order the kama toro, it was perfect.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Walking in is like being in an upscale food court with nothing but the best quality. A little pricey but well worth the experience, service, and your palette will keep you coming back.Rock Fish Sushi Bar is unlike any other, truly authentic cuisine and they serve nothing but the best.I order the same thing each time I go. I'll be going again real soon, I'll try to do better with more photos. Once the food is set before me, taking pictures seems to flee my mind.

Rockfish in East Rock Market is a haven for sushi enthusiasts, delivering an experience that's as authentic as it is delightful. The restaurant's commitment to freshness and quality is evident in every dish, making it a must-visit for anyone craving top-notch Japanese cuisine. The sashimi I had was a testament to the restaurant's high standards. Each slice was a perfect cut of fish, fresh, with a texture that melted in the mouth. The quality of the sashimi, from the vibrant color to the delicate flavor, was exceptional, easily rivaling what one would find in more renowned sushi spots.Rockfish's sushi rice deserves a special mention. It was seasoned perfectly, with just the right balance of sweetness and vinegar, complementing the fish without overpowering it. This attention to detail is what sets apart good sushi from great sushi.During my visits, I've tried several of their rolls and nigiri, each one a delightful exploration of flavors. The tuna nigiri was particularly memorable, with the fish's natural flavor shining through. The salmon belly sushi was another highlight, offering a rich, buttery taste that's hard to forget.Despite being on the pricier side, Rockfish justifies the expense with the quality of its offerings. The ambiance of the restaurant, coupled with the attentive service, makes the dining experience enjoyable and worth the price.Overall, Rockfish stands out as a top-tier sushi destination in East Rock. Its dedication to quality and freshness, combined with a well-crafted menu, makes it a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience.

Stopped by for an omakase during lunchtime. I was seated promptly and service was great throughout. The chefs and servers were friendly and personable.Nothing blew my mind, but every course was pretty good overall. The sushi rice was exceptional - perfectly cooked, seasoned, and formed.

This place is the real deal. No need to go to NYC anymore since Chef Jason brought his talent and team to New Haven. The Omakase is out of this world, I'd go out on a limb and say some of the best I've ever had. Every piece is curated with thought behind it, for example two identical pieces of scallop sushi, one topped with sea salt and one with Hawaiian black volcanic salt. Chef tells you to eat the left first then the right. Heaven. Unreal. Thank you again Chef for a wonderful lunch. You'll be seeing a lot more of me.P.S. Order a few things off the menu above the bar. Everything was lights out delicious.

Rock fish ROCKS! I’ve only ever taken out from rock fish on Uber eats. Very fresh, tasty and classic sushi. If anyone has ever been to sugar fish in LA- sort of reminds me of that. To the point roll options, basic in the sense but totally works when you have fresh fish. Have a lot of fatty fish options. Recommend this spot!
