Usually love this place but the last few times ordering takeout has not been good. The chicken fricase lacked flavor and tasted very watered down. Extremely bland. Have they changed their recipes?

Jahnise was an excellent host! They greeted us and seated us right away. Immediately you are hit with the diverse flavors and colorful atmosphere of the restaurant. Plantains were amazing! One big thing to also note is that this place is POC run. It’s a staple of flavor, culture, representation, and food for the soul from love!

I saw a lot of great reviews for this Cuban restaurant, so while I was in New Haven, I had to check it out.The food was ok, but not everything on the menu was available. The drinks were good, very strong. The restaurant is small, very small. The service was great, very polite, all smiles, and very accommodating. I would definitely go back to try other items on the menu. Parking can be a nightmare, but they have a lot of paid parking on the street.

Great meal. Everything was fresh, arrived in a timely manner, the waitress made sure we were taken care of without being intrusive. The atmosphere was cozy. But most of all everything was delicious!

They charged me 30$ for 2 Cuban sandwiches and both sandwiches barely any meat in them could’ve took the meat out the other sandwich and it still wouldn’t have been enough they made better sanwiches when they were in Norwalk and I drove 25 minutes away to get these sandwiches and all for nothing it was very disappointing I will never buy those sandwichez again!!

I have been here several times over the past several years and enjoyed the meals and drinks. I am Dominican and have eaten Cuban food all of my life whenever I crave a taste of home since Dominican and Cuban food as quite similar in almost every way. We Went here again yesterday and I was very disappointed with the food quality and price. My wife ordered the black been soup bowl and it was about half way full like they just took a cup of soup and served it in a bowl. The soup was bland and not hot. I ordered Lechon Asado (Pernil as we call it) with balck bean Moro and 2 tiny pieces of Maduro plantain. Man, all of this was so dry and bland! The rice was stale like it was reheated several times and the pork also. Very dry and bland and tough in some pieces. I also ordered Tostones ($10.00 for 1 plantain??!!) but we were hungry. The place is nice and quaint and the staff is ok, not great, not bad, but no complaints. I have Zero intention of going back spending $50 for bland, well over priced food. Mind you, no drinks, just water, and & $50.00!! And leaving unsatisfied and hungry? No way Jose!!

Honestly, I’m surprised at how bad the food was. The croquettes were cold on the inside. Not warm, not cool….but cold. We got 3 meals, and all were pretty bad. I got a piece of dry salmon plopped onto a plate with a scoop of plain, unseasoned white rice and mediocre green beans. No sauce, no glaze…just a salted and peppered piece of dry fish. We got the driest pork ever and the blandest chicken thigh. Our side of (unseasoned) rice was $6, and mildly seasoned (1/4 cup) beans $5. I’m not sure if it was an off night, a new chef, a back up chef or what but honestly the food was kind of embarrassingly bad.The waitress was nice, the wine was good, the plastic cups were a little cheapy, the atmosphere was pleasant but the TV program showing a man carrying a live pig with a rope to get slaughtered isn’t my idea of a relaxing ambiance. Why is there a TV in there anyway, it’s supposed to be a nice place. I don’t know, this experience just wasn’t a good one.
