Let's just say you can't order a flight, and that every beer comes in a white wine glass. Overall The Beer Collective has a fair amount of draft options. Their food looked good but I'm not willing to pay $8 for plain french fries. This was my first stop of a night of bar and brewery exploration and I was pleased by the cleanliness and style of the bar, but the experience was lackluster. If you're looking for an overpriced and generic bar next to Yale, this is your place.

A huge and interesting selection of draft and bottle beers, plus a few oddball appetizers. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, mostly a young crowd.

I was so looking forward to the Beer Collective. We lucked out with street parking right in front at 5:45 pm on a Saturday evening- perfect! We found seats front and center at the bar- rest of the bar was full and a handful of tables were taken. They had a party of 30 coming so they reserved a table and had a buffet table being set up. The bartender was friendly but as my daughter said No Sense Of urgency. She greeted us gave us menus then was helping others and no one else was working with her. Took awhile for her to take our first drink order. Probably would have stayed longer or drank more if we were waited on more. Just kind of droopy service. We got the wings and the Bavarian pretzels. Both were. Tasty. The menu had a good food selection. The beer choices were interesting. I had a delicious stout from CT and a Pilsner from Brooklyn NY. My daughter had a sour and another stout she enjoyed. To wrap it up- I liked the place- did I love it??? Not really

I can't give any place that uses non-standard beer pours more than two stars. I don't mind short pours, that's fine, but there's no reason a full beer should be 14 oz instead of 16. A beer that's less than 8% abv should not be in a 14 oz glass. On their site, as of right now, for Sea Hag it says "Serving Sizes: 14oz Draft." SEA HAG IS NOT A 14 OZ BEER. I can't freakin' stand this. Drives me nuts. Nothing says "pretentious" more than small beer pours at full price. Actually, it's MORE than full price because the pour's smaller. The decor's nice enough, I suppose, and the service was fine, but I will not EVER request to go there or recommend it to others.

Their beer selection is unrivaled in the area and their food menu will always hit the spot. Beer Collective represents the best beer from all over the state, so if you're looking for bud light look elsewhere, but if you want Fox Farm/NEBCO/Counterweight/etc. then you've come to the right spot. Their service folks are always knowledgeable and funny (Heidi is great!), and they'll always make a fantastic suggestion if you're between choices. Come hungry and thirsty because you'll want to keep trying everything.

The beer is great, terrific selection. But the food is even better. Delicious small plates, but you might not want to share. Vegetables that even a carnivore will love. A little noisy though.

Missed the train by one mine so came here for lunch. The young guy tending bar was also waiting tables. He was super friendly and inviting. We had some French onion soup and a Caesar with shrimp. The French onion soup was delicious, albeit a little sweet. Portion size was hearty. The caesar was decent and the shrimp was well cooked. Definitely a good find!

Cute ambiance, quick service! We came in after missing the train and having a couple hours to kill. Guy at the bar (who was also our waiter) was super nice.

Tiny little gem on a small side street in New Haven. Great place for a quick bite and a drink or two.
